You can have the kids learn shapes by putting a circle around the capital ‘W’ and a square around the Lowercase ‘w’. They could use different colors, such as green around the “big W” and pink around the “little W.”

Watermelon Word Hunt

Take the letter search to the next level by creating a “Watermelon Word Hunt” around the house or classroom! Write words that start with “W” (like “whale,” “window,” “wiggle”) on paper watermelon slices and hide them.

Kids can search for the slices, read the words, and practice their letter sounds while celebrating their finds!

Letter W Watermelon Relay

Turn learning into a game! Set up a relay where kids race to collect letter “W” cards scattered around the yard or room. Each card can feature either an uppercase or lowercase “W.”

Once collected, they can sort the letters into two piles—uppercase and lowercase—boosting physical activity while reinforcing letter knowledge.
