You don’t have to be a chemist to make handmade soap! However, you will need a few materials and ingredients for this recipe.  The ingredients and tools are linked in the recipe card below except a few items most people already have on hand:

How to make Coconut Lime Soap

Coconut Lime Soap Recipe

Yield: Makes 5-6 bars if using the suggested mold.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Active Time: 10 minutes
Additional Time: 3 hours
Total Time: 3 hours 15 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Estimated Cost: $20-$30


  1. Zest a lime, using a cheese grater. Pat dry with paper towel.
  2. Cut the soap into 1 inch chunks. Melt the soap in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir. If it is not completely melted, put it back on for 10 second increments, until fully melted; stirring each time.
  3. Add the lime zest.
  4. Add the coconut soap fragrance oil. Mix well.
  5. Pour into the silicone mold.
  6. (Optional) Lightly sprinkle with more lime zest on top of the liquid soap mixture.
  7. Mist lightly with rubbing alcohol to help reduce bubbles.
  8. Let set for about 3-4 hours.
  9. Remove from mold. Using the straight scraper, cut the soap into 2 inch bars.
