Once you make this simple bread recipe, you will be hooked. One slice isn’t enough, so you might as well get one for each hand.

While I’m a huge fan of the pumpkin spice flavoring to this homemade bread, let’s not overlook that the chocolate drizzle on top is a great addition.

My boys are all about eating fresh bread right when it’s cooled just enough, and this bread proved that it was worth the wait.

After we baked the first Pumpkin Spice Loaf, there were already pleas in the eyes of everyone in the house to make a round 2. I think that is a good indicator that it was a hit!

What is the best way to store homemade dessert bread?

While leaving it out on the kitchen counter might be tempting, this can quickly lead to stale, inedible bread.

Instead, the best way to store your homemade dessert bread is by wrapping it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and placing it in an airtight container. You can also store it in the fridge to extend its shelf life.

I’ve found that this bread recipe is best when slicing it into individual slices and then wrapping each slice in saran wrap. It keeps the leftovers super fresh!

Ingredients
  

  • ½ Cup(s) white granulated sugar
  • ¾ Cup(s) brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ Cup(s) pumpkin puree
  • ½ Cup(s) vegetable oil
  • ¼ Cup(s) milk
  • 1 ¾ Cup(s) all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon ginger
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ Cup(s) chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Add parchment paper to a bread pan.
  • Add the sugar and egg to a mixing bowl and whisk.
  • Add the vegetable oil, milk, and pumpkin puree, then whisk until smooth.
  • Add the baking soda, cinnamon, salt, flour, and other spices. Fold them together using a spatula. Don’t overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the loaf pan.
  • Put the pan in the oven on the bottom rack with parchment paper covering the top of the loaf. Once 30 minutes have passed, take off the parchment paper, then bake for another 30-35 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. (you can also top it with aluminum foil)
  • Grab a clean bowl and melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil together. Melt in 30-second spurts, stirring between each one.
  • After the bread has baked, let it cool down for 15 minutes.
  • Once cooled, remove the bread from the pan by lifting the edges of the parchment paper.
  • Place it on a plate and drizzle with the melted chocolate.
  • Slice into pieces and enjoy.
