Basil-Infused Virgin Sangria Recipe

Sharing is caring!

Have you had a chance to try our Virgin Sangria Mocktail Recipe?  While that one was a fun play on the traditional red wine Sangria, I wanted something a little bit different for wowing guests.

This basil-infused virgin sangria mocktail recipe is a mature take on the mocktail trend (if you’re serving kids as well, check out our mocktails for kids for other recipes they may enjoy).

Basil-infused Virgin Sangria Mocktail Recipe, a fun grown-up drink without any alcohol. Perfect for entertaining or offering to sober guests

Unlike our first virgin sangria mocktail recipe, this white sangria actually uses grape juice in the recipe, which is lovely with that addition of basil.

You can either muddle (smush up) the basil in the grape juice, or let it steep and more delicately infuse the sangria with it’s flavor. Opt for whichever method is easiest for you.

It’s nice to add the cut citrus about an hour before serving so that the citrus can also infuse the grape juice with it’s flavor, but letting the citrus sit too long in the grape juice can make the sangria a bit cloudy with pulp. The flavor is great, but you’ll want to be sure to strain away those unattractive bits before serving.

Steep a handful of basil in your grape juice for at least an hour, or muddle it using ice or a cocktail muddler.

An hour before serving, cut up enough citrus to fill your container or add at least a small handful to each serving.

For an 8 cup serving, we used:

  • 6 cups white grape juice
  • 2 cups water (can use club soda or tonic)
  • Large handful basil (approximately 20 leaves)
  • 2 lemons
  • 2 oranges

Fantastic recipe and ideal for serving to our guests that were pregnant this Christmas. They loved the basil in as well who would have thought to combine that with Sangria.

Oh delicious! I love the fresh fruit added to this recipe. The basil in it cuts the fruitiness while adding the health factor.

It's healthier to make our own drinks at home rather than to buy powdered juice. In addition, it freshness of the fruits added into it makes the drink better.
