Instructions to Make This Andes Mint Puppy Chow Recipe

Making this no-bake dessert mix is as easy as melt, mix, and shake!

  1. Melt the Chocolate and Mints – Combine butter, Andes mints, and chocolate chips in a bowl. Microwave in short bursts, stirring in between, until smooth.
  2. Mix in the Cereal – Gently fold in the Chex cereal, ensuring each piece gets an even chocolatey mint coat.
  3. Shake with Sugar – Add the coated cereal to a large zip-top bag with powdered sugar. Seal and shake until everything is fully coated and no sticky spots remain.
  4. Cool and Serve – Spread the mix out on a baking sheet to cool and set before transferring to an airtight container or serving bowl.

Dessert Tips and Tricks

  • Use wax paper when spreading the chow out to cool—makes cleanup a breeze!
  • Double the batch if you’re prepping for a crowd or holiday party.
  • Toss in some mini marshmallows or crushed peppermint candies for an extra festive flair.

Troubleshooting Andes Mint Puppy Chow

  • Too Sticky? Add a little more powdered sugar and shake again.
  • Chocolate Not Melting Smoothly? Try reducing the microwave power and stir more frequently.
  • Cereal Getting Soggy? Make sure to coat quickly and let it cool on a flat surface to keep it crisp.

Yes! Store it in an airtight container and it’ll stay fresh for up to 5 days.

Absolutely—any mint chocolate candy will work, though Andes gives the best flavor and texture.

Let it cool completely before storing, and don’t over-melt the chocolate.

Scoop into clear treat bags, tie with a ribbon, and label for a festive DIY gift.

Andes Mint Puppy Chow Storage and Reheating Tips

This mint chocolate cereal mix stores like a champ!

Keep your leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Avoid the fridge—it can cause the chocolate to harden oddly and the cereal to lose its crunch.
