Starting with Mom’s Manual Day 7, we begin breaking down our home into deep cleaning areas and figure out the tasks needed to clean them. You remember that we should spend 15 mins per day cleaning our “zone”… at the end of the week your zone/focus area should be nice and clean because you will have put almost 2 full hours into cleaning it. But, you may feel you need to do some major decluttering. That is ok! You will still do some deep cleaning in the places you can reach. OK, let us get our lists going.
Zone work is that deep cleaning stuff:
- Windows
- Window Sills
- Wash Linens
- Shampoo Carpets or spot clean them
- Dust
- Fan Blades
- etc
Go into the following rooms:
- Living Room
- Entrance (like, if you have a Foyer)
- Front Porch
Put each room on its own sheet of paper and look around, what all needs doing in these rooms? Make your list – this is Zone/Focus #1. The first week of the month gets devoted to this area.
For the curious, here’s mine – actually, when this post was originally written, this was mine. 🙂 Since I have moved, it is really time for me to rebuild by Mom’s Manual to help me keep up with all the tasks that need doing in my home.

I like how to break down your zones so that you get every area of the house. I need to have a list like this but I'm a little lazy. I do have a daily cleaning list. Thanks for sharing on Feature Friday. I hope you will share with us again!
