Question 1

What can I make with spice cake mix and a can of pumpkin?

Accepted Answer

With nothing else added, the two make soft pumpkin cookies or muffins. Add a splash of milk and mini chocolate chips and you have chocolate chip pumpkin muffins, or bake the batter as cupcakes and top them with cream cheese frosting.

Question 2

How do I make boxed spice cake taste homemade?

Accepted Answer

Use milk instead of water, melted butter instead of oil, and add one extra egg for a richer, more tender cake. Then finish it with a homemade cream cheese frosting. Here are more ways to make cake mix better.

Question 3

Can I freeze muffins and breads made with spice cake mix?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Let them cool completely, wrap them tightly and freeze for up to 3 months, then thaw on the counter. For cupcakes, freeze them unfrosted and frost after they thaw.
