What is the learning benefit of this Heart Shaped Activity for Preschool?

One of the biggest benefits of this printable activity is that it encourages the kids to pay attention to what is around them.

In doing so, they’ll slow down, listen more, and work on their memory skills at the same time. And if you’re working together, it’s great for working on communication skills, too!

Also, there are plenty of areas for creativity and coloring, which is excellent for fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

Fun ways to use this printable

I’m all for printing and using exactly for the use, but I also love branching out and trying new things.

Here are a few fun ideas for early learners to be able to have even more learning fun!

Draw hearts and practice counting them

Get ready for a colorful twist to counting practice! Have the kids grab their favorite crayons or markers and draw as many hearts as possible. Big ones, small ones, rainbow-colored ones—anything goes!

It’s time to count once they’ve filled the page with their masterpieces. Ask them to group the hearts by size or color, then count each group out loud. It’s a fun and creative way to combine art and math, all while keeping those little hands busy!

Bake heart-shaped cookies

Nothing says love quite like cookies fresh from the oven! Get the kids involved and bake heart-shaped cookies together—it’s the perfect mix of fun and tasty.

Grab some cookie cutters, your favorite dough recipe, and plenty of sprinkles (the more, the better, right?). Watch their creativity shine as they decorate each cookie with colorful icing and sweet toppings.

Bonus tip? Wrap them up in cute little bags and share the love with family, friends, or even neighbors. Baking memories like these are almost as sweet as the cookies themselves!

Group candy hearts based on color

Grab a bag of those pastel delights and have the kids dump them onto the table. Have them group all the pinks, purples, yellows, and greens into neat little piles.

You can turn it into a game—who can sort their pile the fastest? Or, get creative and make patterns with the colors! It’s a sweet way to practice sorting and categorizing skills while sneaking in some learning.
