It’s affordable, it cooks up in large quantities, and it only takes a few minutes to make.  Naturally, the only way to make these foods better is to serve them together!

But if you search for chicken and pasta recipes, it’s tough to find dishes that are actually good for you. Most have heavy cream-based sauces, which are full of calories, or are topped with layers of cheese, which is delicious but not healthy.

A healthy chicken pasta dinner already checks a lot of boxes. It’s filling, protein-packed and easy enough for busy weeknights. But the right side dish can turn it into a meal that feels more balanced, fresh and satisfying without adding a lot of extra work.

The easiest way to pair side dishes with chicken pasta is to think about texture and freshness. Since pasta dishes tend to be warm and hearty, lighter sides help keep the meal from feeling too heavy. Crisp salads, roasted vegetables and simple breads all work especially well alongside creamy, tomato-based or garlic-heavy chicken pasta recipes.

Fresh Salads That Balance Rich Pasta Dishes

A simple salad is one of the easiest ways to round out a healthy chicken pasta dinner. Caesar salads, chopped Italian salads and arugula salads with lemon dressing all pair well with creamy chicken pasta recipes because they add freshness and crunch.
