Super Simple Flag Craft

Sharing is caring!

This Simple Flag Craft is perfect for 4th of July fun! In our house, we’re all about celebrating Independence Day, and who doesn’t love a few homemade decorations scattered around the place? Be sure to check here for more fun July 4th activities!

We’ve got a super simple flag craft that even the littlest hands can master.  Of course, older kids can try it too — have them do more of the prep, such as cutting out the stripes, to increase the difficulty factor a bit.

Creating fun crafts at home has numerous appealing aspects. Not only does it help kids learn how to manage time and follow directions, but it also aids in developing fine motor skills and creativity.

What age is this paper flag craft geared towards?

Little ones will love this craft, but that doesn’t mean that older kids can’t join in the fun. As long as you have a kid (or adult) who loves to cut, glue, and stick stickers all over the place, this craft is for them!

I never really like to limit ages for crafts because, in my opinion, all craft time is good time for anyone who wants to join.

Materials

  • White construction paper
  • Blue construction paper
  • Red construction paper
  • Star stickers
  • Glue, Scissors (or paper cutter)

Instructions

  • If you’re working with little ones, cut some red stripes out of the construction paper.  I made mine about 1/2 an inch and that seemed to be a good length.  If you have a paper cutter like mine, just slide the paper to the edge of the cutter and slice away.  This will give you a good width.
  • Next, give your child a glue stick and show them how to place the stripes. If you have older kids, you could just show them the American flag and let them figure out the placement themselves.
  • Once all the stripes are “in place”, cut a little blue square out and glued it in the corner.
  • Now comes the fun part: Stickers!  I just used the standard 4 color star stickers. You can find them in Walmart or any office supply store.
