What’s in the Thanksgiving Cutting Pack

The PDF has 11 pages: a cover, a copyright page, and 9 cutting pages. Each cutting page has a Thanksgiving picture with dotted lines to follow.

  • Lines that change length, size and direction from page to page

Why Cutting Practice Is Worth the Mess

Cutting builds the small hand muscles kids need later to hold a pencil. It also works hand-eye coordination and teaches the other hand to do its job, which is turning the paper. If your kids like these, we have plenty more preschool cutting practice printables for the rest of the year.

How to Use These With Different Ages

Preschoolers

Start with one page, not nine. Show them thumb up in the scissors and remind them to turn the paper, not the scissors. Expect wobbly edges. That is the point.

Kindergarten and Up

Hand over the whole set. When they are done, the cut pictures can be glued onto construction paper for a Thanksgiving scene, or turned into place cards for the table.

Not Ready for Scissors Yet

Have them trace the dotted lines with a crayon or marker first. Same pages, same skill, fewer tears.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Before you print the Thanksgiving cutting pages, here is what people usually ask.

Mostly preschool and kindergarten, so roughly ages 3 to 6. Younger kids can trace the dotted lines with a crayon instead of cutting, and older kids can knock out the whole set as a quick table activity.

The PDF is 11 pages: a cover, a copyright page, and 9 Thanksgiving cutting pages. Print all of it or just the pages your kids will actually finish.

Kids scissors sized for small hands. If your child is a lefty, get actual left-handed scissors. Using righty scissors in the left hand makes the blades push apart, and the paper just folds instead of cutting.
