Father’s Day Finger Painting Ideas
These Father’s Day Finger Painting Ideas will help you and the kids develop ideas of gifts for Daddy! Plus, they can share in making the art along with Mom! Who knows? Dad may even want to get in on the art fun as well! These would be a super fun activity and a homemade gift idea for the kids to do for Father’s Day!
Nothing makes Dad feel appreciated more than a handmade gift, especially one from his children.

The fun part about creating, crafting, and giving as a gift shows that it comes from the heart! The kids can complete these at home, to surprise Dad with their work!
And just in case you need something extra, these Golf Lover Gift Ideas are also a fun addition to a homemade gift idea for dad!
What age group can make these easy Father’s Day crafts?
While kids of all ages can join in on the fun, little hands tend to have the perfect time! (This doesn’t mean older kids can’t join the fun!) These are great activities for fine motor skills and an excellent option for making a homemade gift for Father’s Day.
While the painting activities aren’t complicated, they will also help your child’s listening skills, patience, and creativity. These are all good things to work on when they’re younger—and also to show off what they can do!

What art supplies do I need for these easy painting activities and ideas?
The list could be endless! I always like to keep my art room stocked with art supplies because you never know when creativity strikes! Some of the simple materials that I keep on hand are:
- construction paper
- white paper
- white cardstock
- tissue paper
- paint marker
- fun paint colors
- scrap paper
- alphabet stickers
- googly eyes
- ink pads and stamps
And anything else you want to add! Be sure to have kid-safe, washable paint for handprint art or fingerprinting activities as well.
Young children will love having options to make homemade cards, pictures, or a fun craft for creative Father’s Day gift ideas!
Would you like to save this?
Is finger painting considered messy play?
Absolutely. 100%! But don’t let it deter you! Messy play is important for kids to be able to explore and use their senses, and it doesn’t always have to mean super messy.
Prep the areas a bit before starting, as this will help ease the mess being created and the clean-up process.
And if it’s a nice day, you can always head outside and do these painting activities, where the clean up is really a breeze!
