Thunder Bird Trivia: Zapdos Fun Facts!
Zapdos is such a cool legendary Pokemon to include in your homeschool day! It’s one of the original three legendary birds from the first Pokemon games, and kids still love it today!
Did you know? The name “Zapdos” comes from “zap,” its Electric-type abilities, and “dos,” which means “two” in Spanish. It’s the second legendary bird in the Pokedex!
It was named on purpose as ZapDOS to match the other Legendary birds, namely:
- ArticUNO
- ZapDOS
- MolTRES
In Spanish, UNO, DOS, and TRES are 1, 2, and 3. You can sneak in a quick language lesson while coloring!
In Pokemon stories, Zapdos lives in thunderclouds and gets its power directly from lightning strikes! When it flaps its wings, it can create massive thunderstorms! How cool is that?
While coloring, you can talk with your kids about weather, electricity, and storms. These connections to real-world concepts make Zapdos coloring pages a gateway to cross-curricular learning.

What it includes:
You’ll get four different Zapdos pictures in this pack! Each one shows this awesome Pokemon in a different cool pose. Every print shows off Zapdos’s pointy beak and those amazing lightning-shaped wings!
The pages show Zapdos from different angles – one with wings spread wide, looking super powerful, and another showing it flying through the sky. I made these with nice, precise lines that work great with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
I created simpler designs for younger kids and more detailed ones for older children. Everyone in the family can join in on the fun of Pokemon coloring!

Fun ways to use this printable:
These Zapdos coloring pages can be used for so many fun activities! My kids love using them in different ways, and yours will, too!
Pokemon Card Creation
Turn your colored Zapdos into your very own Pokemon cards! Pokemon cards are super popular right now! After coloring, cut out Zapdos and glue it to cardstock.
Then add cool Pokemon card stuff around it – energy symbols, HP numbers, and attack moves with damage points. Kids love creating “Legendary” or “V-Star” versions of Zapdos with crazy-powerful abilities! It encourages creativity and helps them learn about game rules and card values!
Elemental Battle Scenes
Make exciting battle scenes with Zapdos fighting other Pokemon types! Color other Pokemon printables that would make good opponents (Ground-types like Sandshrew are great since electric moves don’t work on them!).
Put the colored Pokemon on a homemade battle background, take pictures, or make a stop-motion battle video! Kids can spend hours planning these battles, discussing type advantages, and making up stories – all while learning science concepts!

This activity is so much fun for homeschool groups! Kids get to be creative and see how everyone’s Zapdos looks different. It’s a great way to connect with other Pokemon-loving families and share homeschool activities that kids enjoy!
