Lots of parents make the decision to select wooden toys for their toddlers once they know how to find safe toddler toys.
They can be used for multiple children which makes them a great choice.
There are so many fun wooden toddler toys that you can select from and I’ve picked out the 7 best wooden toddler toys to help make your decision a little bit easier.
Wooden Toddler Toys
Your child has a growing imagination as a toddler, and wooden toddler toys are a great way to help keep their creativity going. No matter what type of toys they like to play with, there will always be a wooden toy that will be something they fall in love with.
Fine motor skills and early cognitive abilities are on a roll with this classic favorite! Sturdy, pegged cars are the base for 15 colorful pieces that can be configured over and over again. When assembled, the train is over 17 inches long!
Children can also separate the cars to change things up or share the fun. It’s no wonder little ones and their parents choo-choo-choose this toy year after year!
Melissa & Doug Car Carrier Truck & Cars Wooden Set
This cool truck has a big job: delivering four colorful cars to their new homes. Its upper level lowers to let the cars drive on, then lifts smoothly to hold two of the cars when it’s time to roll out. Load, raise, and haul four new vehicles along an imaginary highway with the Car Carrier from Melissa & Doug.
This quality, all-wood truck makes it easy to load four brightly colored cars onto a long ramp that folds into a two-level carrier, allowing your child to deliver the vehicles wherever they may need to go!
Melissa & Doug Wooden Take Along Tool Kit (24pc)
This 24-piece set includes wooden nails, screws, nuts, and bolts for hours of creative, “constructive” fun. Preschoolers will love using the hammer, wrench, and screwdriver to build their projects! With this classic kid-sized tool kit, children are not only playing, but are also building important developmental skills.
The hands-on play helps develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity. As young builders try different ways to connect the brightly colored pieces, they are learning problem solving skills, as well as color and shape recognition, and counting skills. Nails and screws fit into holes in the toolbox itself, or into nuts, bolts, and peg boards that can be connected in various ways. Use the pieces for counting, sorting, and memory games.
Pack it all up in the convenient, sturdy toolbox with handle to take playtime anywhere. Children will enjoy endless hours of independent and creative play with this toy.
Melissa & Doug Shape Sorting Cube
This classic wooden shape sorter is fun cubed! The beautifully crafted toy features smooth, natural wood, dove-tail joints, a slide-off lid, and 12 cut-out shapes in four of the sides. The 12 brightly colored solid wood shapes are easy for little hands to grasp and make a wonderful ‘clunk’ as they drop in the shape sorting cube. Fit the pieces in the matching holes, then dump them out and do it again! An illustrated guide on the label helps identify the names of the shapes—from a triangle and a trapezoid to a parallelogram to a pentagon.
Melissa & Doug Deluxe Pounding Bench Activity Center
A beloved classic toy gets an exciting new twist with this deluxe pounding bench. As the colorful, non-removable pegs on the bench go up and down, they play peekaboo, taking turns showing their friendly smiles while the child has fun practicing fine motor skills. And you’ll enjoy that because the pegs are attached, they can’t get lost. Children delight in striking a peg with the mallet and watching one on the opposite side pop up. Once a child has seen this cause-and-effect in action, he or she will enjoy predicting which peg will pop up next. As a child develops hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, he or she will also be learning numbers and colors by counting the pegs and naming each color as it pops up.

This is a great post because my son loves things like this. He is 2 and trains make him wild with excitement. He also likes to build things. My husband wants to ban blocks because my son covers the floor with them. But oh well. It comes with the territory of being a parent right.
Right! Blocks are so much better to have on the floor than LEGO – those thing HURT if you step on them. LOL!
