I’m a sucker for anything about animals that live in the ocean!
Use these books about Starfish as a way to help the kids read and get information about how they live in the Ocean and what they like to do daily, etc.
Should you touch starfish?
You shouldn’t if you don’t have to. They absorb a lot of oxygen by way of water and through the points in their body and if you touch them, you run this risk of hurting them.

They're waterproof, they're floatable, they're washable, and they're a delightful fun addition to Baby's bath! Each Seaside Bath Book tells a funny, illustrated little story for toddlers about a sea creature and his friends. Baby gets an extra surprise when he presses one of the book's pages and hears it give off an amusing little squeak. Every book comes packaged in a net bag with a floatable toy image of its book's title character. The accompanying toy animal can be squeezed and filled with bath water--then squeezed a second time to squirt the water out. Suddenly Sandy stopped. She saw something that was bigger than a seashell. "Look, Momma," said Sandy, "there are stars on the beach!" A mother and daughter’s day at the beach becomes a lesson in life as they discover starfish stranded on the beach and work to rescue them. Sandy and her mother discover that small acts of kindness can make a big difference, if only to one. The reader is drawn through the book by beautiful, fluid watercolors that hint at the coming sunset. After Sandy and Momma head for home the reader is allowed to linger a little longer and discover a surprise look at the ocean after dark. Starfish on the Beach includes an educational bonus of facts about starfish (or sea stars) written in a child-friendly, humorous style with additional teacher and parent resources.
From circles to squares to rectangles and triangles, this introduction to shapes goes beyond the usual. The descriptive text, which highlights large, vivid illustrations, makes it easy to understand the concept of shapes. The sail of the boat is a triangle, the submarine is oval-shaped, the honeycomb has many hexagons, and the kite is diamond-shaped. Best of all is the heart that finishes this book, because everyone loves it!
