We all get stressed sometimes.  Both positive and negative life events can alter our daily routines and cause stress.  These relaxing essential oil diffuser blends can help you relax, promote stress relief, and boost your overall mood.

You’ll find multiple essential oil recipes below to get you started. It’s no secret that I love essential oils so I’m happy to pass this information on to you!

recipes and tips for the best diffuser blends

Each essential oil has different properties and works in a different way.  Some relax your mind and body to help you sleep, and others help reduce stress and uplift you so you can work better during the day.

And since I can’t pick my favorite essential oil, I’m giving you the list so that you can educate yourself and make your own choices as well.

Relaxing Essential Oil Diffuser Blends

Before we talk about blends, let’s talk about which essential oils promote relaxation and stress reduction.  This is a list of the more common relaxing essential oils, and the blends below will use these oils plus other oils to create blends that smell amazing and promote relaxation.

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is probably the first oil that comes to mind for relaxation.  When used in aromatherapy, it can lower your heart rate and blood pressure, which calms the body.  It is often used in sleep blends, but it can promote relaxation at any time of the day.

Bergamot Essential Oil

Bergamot essential oil comes from the peel of the citrus fruit, so it has a light and fun scent.  Traditionally, it was used to boost energy flow. It can boost the mood and bring feelings of joy and energy, so it is best used in a relaxing essential oil diffuser recipe for day time.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

Ylang ylang essential oil can reduce heart rate when used in aromatherapy, so it can help you relax and calm down.  It is said to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

Rose Essential Oil

Rose essential oil is said to balance hormones and soothe emotions when used in aromatherapy.  It can also help reduce depression, stress, and feelings of grief.

A true rose essential oil is very expensive since so many rose petals are needed to make it.  Rose absolute is a less expensive product. It’s produced through a chemical extraction, so it is not a true essential oil, but it has a true rose scent.

Rose otto is a true essential oil that is created through steam distillation.  It’s often diluted with a carrier oil to reduce the price, but it is still a very concentrated oil.  Rocky Mountain Oils has a true rose essential oil, but it is very expensive.  For a more affordable option, try their Blend of Rose.  It is 2 percent rose essential oil and 98 percent fractionated coconut oil.  Even though Blend of Rose is heavily diluted, you can use it drop for drop just like you would any other essential oil because it is so potent.

German Chamomile Essential Oils

Like the tea, chamomile essential oil is said to be calming when used in aromatherapy.  It can help calm the nervous system and reduce anxiety.

Jasmine Essential Oil

Jasmine essential oil is a good choice for a day time relaxing essential oil diffuser recipe because it is both stimulating and can boost energy levels while also reducing stress and anxiety levels.

Clary Sage Essential Oil

Clary Sage essential oil is calming and can reduce anxiety, and it smells amazing.  It can bring balance and peace when diffused alone or in a blend.

Neroli Essential Oil

Neroli essential oil is an expensive essential oil, but it is amazing for skincare and diffusing.  It can act as a natural sedative to reduce anger, worry, and irritability.

Vetiver Essential Oil

Vetiver essential oil has an earthy scent, so it’s often blended with other oils to make relaxing essential oil diffuser recipes.  It is said to reduce anxiety, depression, and stress. Vetiver can boost concentration in some people, but others get very tired.

How to Diffuse Essential Oils

There are several ways to use relaxing essential oil diffuser recipes.  The most common way is in an ultrasonic or humidifying diffuser. These are easy to use; just fill with water and add 3 to 5 drops of essential oils per 100 mL of water.  Diffuse for 30 to 60 minutes and then shut it off for the same amount of time.

If you’ll be in your car, you can use a car diffuser.  These plug into the outlet or clip to the vents to diffuse the car with oils.  Again, diffuser for 30 to 60 minutes at a time. Always use one of these relaxing essential oil diffuser recipes at home before you use it in the car.  Some oils can relax the driver too much, which can be a safety concern.

If you only want the effects of the oils yourself, try diffuser jewelry.  You can buy a necklace, earrings, or bracelet. They usually have a lava bead or clay to place the oils on.

Relaxing Essential Oil Blends

You can create your own blends or buy a premade blend.  Rocky Mountain Oils has several premade blends. If you don’t have a lot of oils, these are cheaper than buying each individual oil.

  • At Peace blend helps reduce sadness and stress while promoting energy and confidence.
