As the weather gets warmer, we’ve been spending a lot of time explore our NEW backyard and getting out into nature.  One of the characters we’ve been reading about, Pig Pig, has been getting closer to nature too in his book entitled Pig Pig Goes to Camp.

This would be great to pair with our 3 Little Pigs Unit study!

This quirky book details Pig Pig’s enjoyable time at camp and then takes an unexpected turn as Pig Pig becomes friends with the plethora of frogs that also inhabit the camp.   We read through the book a few times and then decided to make our own picture about Pig Pig’s experience.

Here’s a quick snapshot of the Pig Pig FREE PRINTABLE:

I ended up printing mine in black and white, so we did some coloring as part of the project too.

We usually use crayons, so we decided to shake things up a bit with markers.  🙂  Of course, it does make the frogs a little hard to see.  Oh well.

After the coloring was complete, I cut out the figures.  If your kids are older, they could do their own cutting.

We reviewed the storyline again briefly and then I let the kids glue away!

After they were done, they explained their picture — a great way to practice reading comprehension.

What books are you reading this week?
