This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Dollar General for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

As Moms, we tend to forget to take time for ourselves.  We are busy – time is not something we have to spend on us – we have to spend it on our kids, our parents, our homes, and our spouse.  However, if we don’t take a few minutes to ourselves each day we are depriving all those people and things of our best us!  Do you know a Mom that could use a little reminder?  Create a special Pampering Basket that is just for her. Check out my other  gift ideas for everyone as well.

How to Create the Perfect Gift Basket

It doesn’t have to be Christmas or her Birthday for you to surprise a special Mom in your life with a little basket of goodies!  Plus, with the great prices at Dollar General, you can do it at a very low cost!

I was given the challenge of creating a pampering gift basket of Dollar General products for someone I love!  My Mom does a ton of things for my family, my brother’s family, and many more people every single day.  She needs the reminder that she needs to do for herself AND I like to surprise her with goodies on occasion. For just over $30, I was able to give her a TON of goodies in a pretty basket!  I started just strolling through Dollar General until I found the perfect piece to base the gift basket around.  The perfect piece? This ADORABLE Zebra lamp shade ($5) and the modern base ($7) that I paired with a perfect little basket ($6).

From there, I had to decide what she would do with her lamp?  So, I found a cute (and SUPER soft) blanket ($8) for her to curl up with while enjoying some yummy cookies ($2.50).  The cookies were on sale, woot!  Nothing like a great sale at Dollar General where the prices are already low and sales make them lower.

But seriously, what is she going to do while she is using the lamp and eating the cookies curled up under the blanket?  I strolled through the shelves of books and just couldn’t decide what she would want to read that she hadn’t already and then it dawned on me!  My Mom LOVES to play Sudoku and at only $1.00 a book, I was able to get her a couple of them PLUS some pens.

I still had some space in my basket and some dollars to spend and went strolling again – I ended up in the soaps and body wash aisle and it hit me!  Before she can curl up with her blanket and Sudoku she needed a bath!  Personally, I love the crisp, clean scent of Cucumbers and wanted to keep the green theme going – so, I found some body wash, lotion, and a sponge in that scent and a perfect match to the green throw.

Shopping at Dollar General

That completes my pampering gift basket for my mom and I spent less than $40! I could have left out the lamp (because it isn’t really IN the gift basket) and saved $12, but I thought it was so cute that I couldn’t pass it up!  BTW, Thomas and I had so much fun making up our basket as we went…

Kelli,

You did not say how much the papermate ink joy pens were. Did you use the .75 cent coupon for the pens? Dee

I didn't say because I couldn't remember and the price wasn't on the pens. :-) I searched for my receipt but couldn't find it and no, I didn't use any coupons this trip :-)
