Learn about the planets

Learning about the planets with your kids can be an exciting adventure! Imagine discovering the fiery surface of Mercury, the swirling clouds of Jupiter, or the mysterious rings of Saturn—all from the comfort of your living room.

Grab some glow-in-the-dark stickers, a space-themed book, or pull up a cool planet video online to set the scene. You can even create your own mini solar system using everyday items like balls and string.

Kids love hands-on activities, and it’s a great way to ignite their curiosity about the universe. Who knows? You might inspire a future astronaut!

Create a new planet with the kids

Get ready to spark some creativity and explore the galaxy—all from your living room! Creating a new planet with your kids is an activity filled with fun and endless possibilities.

Start by grabbing some paper, crayons, or even a big poster board. Think about the details together—how big is your planet? Is it covered in candy forests or glittering oceans? Does it have flying animals or alien robots? Give it a name, design its flag, and decide who lives there.

This is your chance to think as wild as you want! Don’t forget to imagine how it smells and sounds and what kind of weather it has. The best part? There are no wrong answers—it’s your very own world!

Learn the order of the planets

Learning the order of the planets with your kids can be so much fun! Start with a little rhyme to make it easier to remember, like “My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nachos” (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune).

You can even turn it into a game by drawing the planets or acting out their positions in the solar system—Mercury is tiny and speedy, while Jupiter is giant and slow!

Grab some crayons, print out a solar system template, and watch as their curiosity about space takes off. It’s a perfect mix of learning and playtime!
