Water makes up more than two-thirds of our world. Within that water are more than 230,000 species of ocean life according to the World Register of Marine Species*. As part of of our new themed unit study, we will be learning about several of them. Over the course of several weeks (maybe even months), the Ocean Animals Unit Study will cover all subjects from Bible to Home Economics and everything in between. All the subjects are based around these Ocean Animals!
*WoRMS (World Register of Marine Species) passed the 200,000 species mark in 2010 in conjunction with the celebration of 10 years’ Census of Marine Life. Given an estimated 230,000 accepted described marine species, still 6,052 to go (plus the yearly increment of 2,000 newly described species). WoRMS aims to provide the most authoritative list of names of all marine species globally, ever published.
