By 1950, movies are all the rage!  The ’50s brought an explosion to the popularity of drive-in movies; so, naturally the movie makers had to produce more movies.  While the 30s and 40s brought us movies to start with, the 50s really kicked up the entertainment value.  The following list of Kids Movies of the 1950s are some of the most popular and memorable children’s movies of the decade and make a perfect movie library for your kids this Summer!

Do kids enjoy watching old movies?

Some of our favorite family movies are older movies! There are so many good Walt Disney productions and movies about fairy tales, and let’s not forget films that were so good that they won Academy Awards for best picture.

Some of my favorite feature films that I’ve watched with the kids over the years are The Little Mermaid, Princess Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Christmas Carol, Robin Hood, Mary Poppins, The Parent Trap, and more. We love to pop some popcorn and sit around watching films from the early 1950s to the present!

While it was hard to narrow this list down to some of the best movies of the 1950s, I feel like there’s a good variety here! From Disney movies to live action, these motion pictures are an important part of the film industry and one of the main reasons that I’m a movie fan to this day!
