I had a Christmas Party at church this past week. We have what we call small groups that meet every week to do bible discussions. Everyone brings a dish, so that it why I have some ideas for potluck dishes, I have to make one every week. Once a month all of the small groups meet up together to have a large bible discussion and worship time. This month we had a Christmas party instead of a meeting. They had contests for best Christmas themed dish, best tasting dessert, best tasting appetizer, and best tasting (non-alcoholic) Holiday drink.
I just made a regular old dish and didn’t think about the contest, because I have a 15 month old and a 3 year old, along with a ton of decorating and shopping to do. I just pulled out something quick and easy. Well it won best tasting appetizer! I thought I would share with you.
Pizza Pinwheels
2 cans of crescent rolls
1 pkg of pepperoni slices
1 large bag of shredded mozzarella (equal to 4 cups)
2 egg yolks
This recipe is a double batch. Trust me, you always want to make a double batch! I am not exaggerating. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll out crescent rolls, but pinch together the diagonal lines to create rectangles. In a food processer (if you don’t have one you can chop up as small as you can) chop the pepperoni in very small pieces. In a large mixing bowl combine the cheese, egg yolks, and pepperoni.
Spread the mixture on the crescent rolls. Roll them up starting from the short end. After you roll them up, slice them and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 8 minutes.
You are done. Now eat while you have the chance. 🙂

THANKS for the pizza pinwheel idea...I may substitute the meat with beef but this is a good idea--and quick to prepare :)
