My favorite part of making pizza is adding all the toppings. I’m never a huge fan of crust, so using the macaroni put a fun and delicious spin on it!

This is a simple way to bring together a divided house if one child wants pizza and one wants macaroni and cheese!

All you need to plan for is to make sure that you have the macaroni noodles and your favorite pizza toppings. Everything else is easy peasy, as they say!

The first time we made this recipe, we cooked it together in the kitchen and split up the jobs. Someone got to cook the noodles, someone got to add the toppings, and that left someone to make sure that it didn’t get overbaked in the oven.

Once we all took part in the cooking process, it was also fun to take part in the eating process. There’s more pride that happens during dinners when everyone helps out!

How do I not overcook elbow macaroni?

Cooking elbow macaroni can easily be overdone, so monitoring the cooking time is essential to achieve a tasty preparation.

It is recommended to boil the macaroni in salted water for no more than 7-8 minutes and then drain it.

Attention should also be paid to taste tests as the pasta cooks, allowing for better control of the texture of the noodles; typically, al dente pasta will give a slight resistance when bitten into.

If overcooking does occur and the cooked elbow macaroni appears too soft or mushy, transferring it to an oven pan with melted cheese or sauce may help restore some of its texture and flavor.
