Menu Plan Monday: Pantry Clean Out

Sharing is caring!

Every so often, you should take the time to shop from your pantry.  If you are like me, you have purchased things on sale or because they were part of your menu, but never got around to actually eating them.

This week, I am shopping from my pantry.  If you have been shopping for the same things that I have, you probably have some of these things built up, too.  As usual, I have included a complete shopping list, but be sure to go through your pantry, fridge, and freezer before heading to the store.

Food doesn't HAVE to cost you a fortune at Disney! Over the years, I have found many ways to save money there. You are allowed to take soft sided coolers into the parks. I always load up on fun snacks the kids don't usually have in addition to their favorites. I take one bag with fruit, chips, snacks, etc. I take another big cooler with bottled water. I have even used water bottles and put my own tea into them. You can partially freeze the bottles so they will thaw through the day.

Also, the last time we went, Children's meals were only $5. Everyone got a children's meal at lunch...including the adults. We supplemented with the snack bag.

We have always eaten breakfast before we went to the parks. Cream of wheat/oatmeal are somewhat healthy just by adding hot water. I am not sure if you are driving or flying. One year, when we were driving, I made casseroles at home and froze them in advance. They kept great on the ride. At dinner time, I could easily throw them in the oven at our condo. No fuss for me (except clean up but this is where paper plates work well!).

Have a blast! Love Disney!

Wow Lisa, thanks for all the great advice! We will take a few snacks and things in - we typically rent a stroller because it makes life so much easier and it really isn't that expensive. Plus, the 6 year old will get tired and he might need a ride. We just can't carry him the whole time. :-)

We will have a house and are planning two meals in it most days, but there are special places the boys want to eat. Also, we will have an extra person with us so that right there adds to our expenses.

Dishes shouldn't be a problem - I think we will have a dishwasher.. if not, we have 4 kids with us - plenty of dishwashers :-)
