We’re back in to the swing of school by now, and the kids are getting the hang of school schedules. Each morning is less and less of a challenge, and I send them off to school with their homework done, hair brushed, and lunches packed.
Growing up, I begged and begged my mom to buy me those silver juice pouches — know which ones I’m talking about? She never was too keen on the idea, and always sent me with milk. Now that I’m a mom myself, I know that she was giving me the healthiest option, even though it meant that I would never ever forgive her for not buying me those juice pouches — she totally ruined my elementary school street cred! 😉
My kindergartener, Emma, has also begged for those coveted silver pouches of juice. I have been sending her with a Nalgene bottle full of water, but she wanted to be like her friends and take some sort of juice box.
Then, it dawned on me. Milk! Emma is a strawberry milk girl at heart, and Horizon Organic has milk boxes that can easily fit inside a lunch box.
So we took the Horizon Organic Lunchbox replacement challenge. Emma got to take a Horizon Organic milk box in her lunch, and let me tell you — I am now the coolest mom on the planet. “MOM. All of my friends saw that I had strawberry milk, and they wanted it, too!”
Mom, 1. Sugary juice, 0.
By switching out juice drink boxes for milk boxes in school lunches, you can replace ingredients like high fructose corn syrup and artificial preservatives often found in juice for the calcium, protein and vitamin D found in milk, all of which are important for growing kids!
I encourage you to take the Lunchbox Replacement Challenge for yourself! One lucky 3 Boys and a Dog reader will win a Lunchbox Replacement Challenge Prize Pack to get them started on making the switch for their family!
REQUIRED COMMENT: Leave a comment telling me which flavor of Horizon Milk is your favorite — Chocolate, Strawberry, or Vanilla.
