Essential Oil Soap Recipe for Men

Sharing is caring!

This essential oil soap recipe for men is the perfect man soap recipe and a seriously easy gift they’ll love. Yeah–the dudes love the soap. It’s hilarious.

One of my favorite things to gift people for Christmas or thank-you presents is handmade soap.

While there are tons of complicated recipes for soap using real lye out there, I like using pre-made soap bases and adding the colors and scents I love best (and always using essential oils because they much higher quality than other fragrances).

And that’s what makes this masculine melt and pour soap recipe actually fun to make–instead of a whip.

Plus, my boys and husband also appreciate handmade soap with scent blends that are woodsy, spicy, and masculine that you just can’t get with a deep lye smell.

The following oil blend is my favorite essential oil soap recipe for men because it is so easy to make and smells wonderful!

The men in my life absolutely love this smell and it would make the perfect stocking stuffer for teen boys and husbands.

Essential Oil Soap Recipe for Men

I love using soap bases in my homemade soap recipes because melt and pour soap is easy enough for anyone to do and doesn’t require any special equipment.

You don’t have to be a chemist to make handmade soap, but I highly recommend using rubber gloves!

However, you will need a few ingredients for this cold process soap recipe, including:

Making the manly-scented soap is easy. When I’m making masculine soap recipes as gifts for men, I often don’t even dye the soap.

The natural color of the soap gives a perfect “manly” look to the bars.

But, if you want to go crazy and make an even deeper-colored soap, you can always add some activated charcoal in a layer at the bottom or include it in the whole bar.

Another fun idea is to add coffee grounds to the bottom of the soap or even citrus shavings. Adding those bits and pops of color will really change how your soap presents and it’s such a fun way to customize without really changing the overall soap recipe.

And sometimes it’s just about presentation, really.

Pop your soap in individual treat bags or wrap it in foil even, with a cute sticker and your man will absolutely love his stocking stuffer or Father’s day gift.

Tips to Make Handmade Soap for Men

I love making soap and I’ve learned a few tricks, so before you start, check out these simple tips:

Prep Yourself:

Gather all of the necessary tools and ingredients beforehand.

Not only does this help to be sure you have everything you need before you start, but also shortens your steps.

You will need to move quickly, so you need it all right there!

Protect Yourself:

Wear gloves (like I said, just a good idea).

It is also a good idea to protect your workspace. Newspapers, a cut-open trash bag, or even painter’s cloth are good ideas to help with protection.

If you don’t have on super old work clothes, you may also want an apron.

Finally, longish hair? You probably want to pull that up! Can you imagine soap hardening onto your hair. Eek!

Measure Accurately:

Measure each ingredient accurately. Do not eyeball it. One wrong thing and your soap will be crumbly or gooey. Either of which will not be ok.

Use Tools Smartly:

Have a separate set of tools for soap making. In other words, do not use your kitchen measuring cups!

For soap making and other crafty essential oil work, I have a hand mixer, set of mixing bowls and measuring cups, spoons, & pitcher that I got from the dollar store.

They were cheap, but they work very well for my needs!

Even though you’re using natural ingredients, you still need to pay attention to the tips above. Making handmade bar soaps isn’t hard to do, but you do need to make sure that you’re paying attention to the process. No matter if you’re making small batches or are just trying to make a soap bar as a gift, the tips above can help you learn how to make good soap easily!

How to Make a Manly Soap Recipe

You can melt the soap base on low heat on your stove using a flat-bottomed pot.

You can also melt the soap base in a slow cooker. The slow cooker method is what I do! I grabbed an old one from the local Goodwill and use it for all crafty melting things.

When the soap base is melted, add:

You can add additional flavors, but I find that scents get confusing if you add more than four to a recipe. Mix the essential oils into the soap until well combined.

If you don’t want to purchase all of these oils at once or are missing some, Rocky Mountain Oils has a skin care blend that includes many of the oils mentioned above.

The clean scent is the perfect fragrance oil blend to add to a soap for men recipe if you’re on a budget.

Pour the soap base into your soap mold. Tap gently on a flat surface to remove any air bubbles.  Dabbing a little rubbing alcohol on the top helps knock out the ir bubbles, too.

Wait 24 hours for the soap to dry before popping it out of the mold.

Tie the bar soap with raffia if you are giving them as a gift, or place them directly in your bathroom.
