How to Use Your Grinch Farmhouse Beads

You know, it’s one thing to just have some farmhouse beads that you leave on your entryway table or that happen to grace your dining room table with your other farmhouse decor.

Instructions

  1. Decide how long you want your bead string to be, mine contains 24 of the large beads and two small at the ends. This is a nice length for draping over a lot of things, or adding to your Christmas Tree.
  2. Slip your beads over the wooden skewers, leaving an inch or two of space between each for painting.
  3. Paint all but 5 of your larger beads with a coat of green paint and allow to dry.
  4. Paint the other 5  and two small spacer beads with a coat of red paint and dry.
  5. Reapply a second coat to beads if needed. Dry completely.
  6. Tie a knot on one end of the bakers twine. To make it easier dip the end of the string in glue or  melted wax and allow it to harden, this gives you a tip more like a needle and makes the beads slip on so easily!
  7. Slip your beads over the string begging with one of the small red beads,  continue the pattern with three large green beads, one red, repeat, ending in another small red bead.
  8. To make a tassel wrap the bakers twine around 4 of your fingers 25-30 times. Slip it off your hand and wrap another piece of twine around the top of these loops and tie it off, cut off the excess. Snip the loops opposite of the end you tied it off on and you have tassels! Repeat for the other end of your beads.
  9. Tie each end of the string of beads through the loop of the tassels tightly.
  10. Use the back end of a small paintbrush or a fine tip red paint pen to draw hearts on the lowest green beads. You can continue on all of them if you like, you could also do this before stringing it but I liked to let them hang to dry so I do  this step last.
  11. Once dry your beads are ready to bring a touch of Grinchmas to your home!
