This easy recipe really reminds me of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Remember, in the story, when the Grinch’s heart grows to three times it’s size?

The red chunk of dough sitting in the big bit of green really represents the heart on the Grinch!

Specialty Ingredients:

The following ingredients are affiliate links on Amazon because they may be a bit hard to find in your normal store.

Plus, I wanted you to be able to see exactly which things we are using.

White Cake Mix: Personally, I don’t really see much difference in any of the boxes. I buy Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Duncan Hines, and Store Brand. They are all pretty even.

Red Gel Food Coloring: I am a Wilton baker and always have been.  However, I am not opposed to using AmeriColor.

Green Leaf Gel Food Coloring:  The Green that comes in the Wilton set above is really not the right green.  You need a brighter green. So, I like this one from, you guessed it, AmeriColor. 🙂

White Sanding Sugar:  Wilton has a beautiful sparkling sugar that I like to keep on hand. After the dough forms, you roll it into this sugar. It bakes so pretty!

Reminder, not all ingredients in the Grinch Cookies Recipe are linked above, just the ones that may be a bit difficult to find or that you might be unsure of what to look for.

Must Have Resources:

When making Grinch Cake Mix Crinkle Cookies at home, you really need to have the following Amazon affiliate tools on hand.

Stand Mixer:  I know that Kitchen Aid is the most popular, but I have the Kenmore Stand Mixer and am still in love with it.

Mixing Bowls:  The linked glass bowl set from Pyrex is the best investment I ever made into my kitchen.  These glass bowls with lids are perfect for mixing and storing.

Medium Scoop:  A million years ago, when Pampered Chef parties were all the rage, I hosted a TON of them.  I will never regret it and wish that all newly married couples would do it. I got so many cool gadgets and amazing recipes.  But, my best gadgets were my scoops.  We use these things for nearly everything!

Small Scoop: Just a smaller version of the above. 🙂

Cookie Sheets:  I am beginning to sound like a broken record or a brand snob, but I really love these Wilton Cookie Sheets.  I have had them for nearly 20 years, and they are still going strong. That is a big seller for me.

Parchment Paper: This stuff is a game changer for a baker.  Here’s a tip for those that hate it slipping all around: put a small dab of butter on your cookie sheet.  Then, place your parchment paper down. The parchment will stick a bit to the butter, causing it to stay still while you put your circle shape dough down.

What other ingredients are necessary to make cake mix cookies?

Cake mix cookies are a delicious treat, but there is more to the recipe than just using the box. Other necessary ingredients include eggs, oil, and butter that bind together the cookie dough, as well as additional flavoring agents such as vanilla extract and cinnamon.

Depending on the flavor of the cake mix being used, other elements may be added; for example, if a chocolate cake mix is used, cocoa powder could be added to create a richer flavor.

The correct proportions of these ingredients are also important to get the desired consistency in the dough—too much oil or eggs will cause soft and greasy cookies, while too little will result in dry and crumbly ones.

All in all, cake mix cookies are a simple and tasty way to enjoy a classic dessert with only a few extra ingredients.

What types of cake mixes can be used for these treats?

When it comes to making treats such as cupcakes and whoopie pies, cake mix can be an incredibly useful ingredient.

Many varieties are available at the grocery store, ranging from the classic yellow cake mix or chocolate fudge to more unique options like white almond or coconut cream.

Alternatively, you could use a vegan option, including gluten-free mixes that are free of common allergens. For more creative pastry chefs, there are even mixes for specialty desserts like red velvet or banana nut bread.

Regardless of the variety chosen, cake mix can make it easier to quickly assemble delicious treats in a fraction of the time needed for traditional scratch baking.

How long will the cake mix cookies take to bake?

Baking cake mix cookies is a simple process that can be done in minutes. Generally, it will take approximately 10-15 minutes to bake these cookies, depending on the oven temperature and size of the cookies.

To ensure the cookies are not overcooked and result in a dry texture, it is important to keep an eye on them as they bake and remove them from the oven when they lightly brown around the edges.

Additionally, oven temperatures can vary between models, so it is important to ensure your oven is at the correct temperature. With these simple steps, you can have freshly baked cake mix cookies in no time!

What bakeware is necessary for cake mix cookies?

Making cookies from cake mix requires very little equipment – usually just the common baking tools that most kitchens would have on hand.

Specifically, a bowl and a spoon (or electric mixer) to combine the ingredients, baking sheets to bake the cookies on, and parchment paper (or oil) to prevent sticking.

Cake mixes also often require vegetable oil or butter, so make sure you check for these as well before starting.

While it is possible to prepare cookie dough without any special equipment, some people may want to invest in smaller metal spoons and other measuring devices for greater accuracy when following recipes.

I think it should be 2 Tblsp green and 1 Tblsp red if 2/3 dough is green and 1/3 is red. Don't want anyone to be confused by the directions.
