Big and Little Preschool Lesson {Free Printables}

Sharing is caring!

We’re officially starting to homeschool, even if it is just preschool!  I wasn’t quite sure where to start, but I found these great checklists for every grade.  Follow along with us as we learn with all kinds of fun this school year!

Today, we’ll be talking about BIG and LITTLE.  I wanted the girls to have some “real life” experience with big and little, so I gathered up all the balls I could and asked them whether they were big or little.  We also threw in a few words like “huge” and “tiny”.

Of course, as soon as I started gathering up “big and little” things, I could see examples everywhere!  Here are just a few I found laying around, but I’m sure you could think of plenty more!

Here’s just  few things we found!

We also spotted some great examples while were at the Cleveland Zoo Aquarium.

Free Dinosaur Printables!

Of course, Kelli created some adorable “Big and Little” printables to use for more “formal” times at the table.  I absolutely love them because they are dinosaurs!   You can grab yours with the links below.  Take a look at a completed sheet!

Sing about It!

We also sang a song to the tune of “Open Shut Them”, changing the words to “Big and Little”.  You can watch a video of the song here.  It’s super catchy and easy for the kids to pick up on.

Big and Little Everywhere!

Once we started talking about size, my toddler starting noticing “big and little” everywhere!  We were sitting together in the chair and out of the blue, she opens her mouth wide and says, “Look at my teeth, Mommy.  This one is big and this one is little.”   Yeah!  It’s working!!

What About You?

What’s your favorite way to teach big and little?
