What are some of the best desserts to pack in a bento lunch box?

Cakes and cupcakes are always a good option! You can easily pack any type of dessert that you want, so have fun. Fresh fruit is another one of our favorites so buy the fruit while it’s in season and add it. Just be sure that if you’re going to add fruit, you put it into an area that won’t have the juice leaking out all over the place.

You can also add frozen fruit as well, but again, have it so that the fruit is separate from all the other areas.

Important Tips for this Bento Box Idea:

The great thing about creating a bento box lunch or snack is that you have options! As you can see, we really went all out and decorated ours in a way that made sense for us. But don’t forget to change it! Add in some black beans, guacamole, or anything else that you’re inspired to add.

I’m just here to give you options but ultimately you can take the reigns and create whatever you’d like for the kids to eat.

Cinco De Mayo Bento Lunch Recipe

Cinco De Mayo Bento Lunch Recipe

This delicious Cinco De Mayo lunch recipe is a great way to feed the kids great food.

Ingredients

  • Oreo
  • Sprinkles
  • Frosting
  • Gum Drops
  • Pretzels
  • Grapes
  • Bread
  • Cheese
  • Lunch Meat
  • Mayo
  • Strawberries
  • Foodwriter Pen
  • Umbrella
  • Cookie Cutters

Instructions

  • Step One – Make your Cinco De Mayo Maracas by using grapes and pretzel sticks.  Simply stick one grape into the end of each pretzel to create a Maraca looking treat.
  • Step Two – Next, make your Sunshine Face Sandwich by cutting your bread in the shape of a circle.  I cut my meat and cheese with a flower shaped cookie cutter to give it the look of a sun.  I used a Foodwriter Pen and drew a face on the sandwich and added a little drink umbrella for fun!
  • Step Three – Finally, make your Sombrero Cookie using an Oreo, Gum drop candy, frosting and sprinkles.  Fill a small sandwich bag with a frosting of your choice, use a small amount around the edges and in the center of the Oreo cookie.  Sprinkle on your sprinkles and place the gum drop in the center of the cookie.
