How Long Does Fudge Last?

In my house, fudge doesn’t last long at all. There’s just too many little boy hands that are tall enough to reach the counter (oh for the days that they weren’t tall enough to do a drive-by-snacking).

But, if you want fudge to last, I recommend that you plan on storing it in an airtight container. Something like a zipper bag is fine, but if you want to dress it up a little nicer for a gift, I am all for those cute Christmas cookie tins. Back to how long fudge lasts, though.

If you keep it in an airtight container, you can expect fudge to last 10-12 days on the counter, or in the fridge. It lasts a good long time.

Can you Freeze Fudge?

Yes, absolutely! Just leave it in a single block (not cut into squares), then wrap it in plastic wrap a couple of times before you put it in that airtight container. Once it’s in the freezer, you can expect it to last 3-5 months.

Tips for Making Easy Andes Mint Fudge

  • When you heat and melt chocolate chips, be sure to stir between each interval. Even when using a microwave safe bowl, you can over heat some parts of the chocolate mixture and non melt other parts of it, very easily. So, stir. That will keep it from heating unevenly.
  • You can use milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate, white chocolate chips, mint chocolate chips, or even Andes Mint chips for more mint flavor. Use any chocolate chips you want.
  • Just don’t add anything funky and you’ll do fine. No vanilla extract, no baking powder. Nothing more. This is an easy recipe and you can’t over-think it.
  • Do not use evaporated milk. Use sweetened condensed milk. I know it’s confusing sometimes, but your fudge will not taste good with evaporated milk. Trust me.
  • Use a large baking dish and spread your fudge out about 1-inch deep. Too deep and it’ll be too much to bite into. Too thin and it will fall apart.
  • Just use 1/2 cup of Andes Mint candies to sprinkle over the fudge. You don’t need a lot. Trust me.

Andes Mint Fudge Recipe

Yield: 24
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Additional Time: 2 hours
Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes

I adore this easy Andes Mint Fudge Recipe. It's super simple, literally 3 ingredients, but you get this amazing treat that's all mint chocolate goodness.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chocolate chips or almond bark
  • 4-6 Tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup Andes mints

Instructions

  1. Line a 4" x 6" baking dish with parchment paper sprayed lightly with cooking spray.
  2. Microwave chocolate chips or almond bark in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until chocolate is completely melted.
  3. Working quickly, pour the sweetened condensed milk into the chocolate and stir. You can add more or less, but I usually go with 4 1/2 tablespoons. The more sweetened condensed milk you add, the sweeter, more fudgier the texture; less condensed milk will result in a creamier texture.
  4. Pour fudge into the baking dish in a smooth layer and break-up Andes Mints over the top, patting them in, as desired.
  5. Place in the fridge for 2 hours or overnight.
  6. Remove from the fridge and cut into 1" squares.
  7. Enjoy!
