Your kid (or husband) has been vegging out in front of the PlayStation for awhile. You ask them to help with the dishes and they’re like “one more minute”. That one more minute turns into another hour. And another. It’s easy to get sucked into playing gaming systems, or even online, without realizing how long you’ve been playing.
How familiar does that sound?
Finally, a solution to the problem! The PlayStation®3 Parental Control allows you to determine a maximum gaming time per day or per gaming session. I think this is great for kids and adults alike, because I know how easy it is for Jason to get wrapped up in a game and not realize it’s been an hour (or two or three).
The Parental Control is also available for the Nintendo DS. Along with determining maximum game play amount, it also makes sure games are played at a safe viewing distance, which is great for little ones that like to be right on top of the TV while playing. It will give a loud signal if you’re less than 9 inches away from the gaming screen.
The Parental Control has a key that is detachable, that allows you to set the game time for up to 2 hours for one session, and up to four hours for the day. Though Jason didn’t really care for being kicked off after an hour, he did get a warning. The controller gives you a signal five minutes before it shuts down, so you have time to save the game. When the time is up, though, no more warnings – the game goes off.
No more arguing about how long they’ve been playing the game – the timer never lies! The PlayStation 3 Parental Control is available for $39.99, and is worth so much more!
