6 Fathers Day Activities for Kids to do with Daddy

Sharing is caring!

With Father’s Day looming, the question on a child’s lips may well be, “What the can I do with my dad to celebrate Father’s Day?”.

Dads and kids form special bonds – very much unlike the ones that moms form with their children.

Sure, you can’t always spend enough time with your dad, but you can control the quality of time you spend together. Regardless of how old you are, the following activities will be much appreciated and will turn a weekend – or even a few minutes – into daddy-child quality time.

Make Dad Breakfast in Bed

Dads, more often than not, get up before dawn to get ready for work and watch out for the needs of the family. To get your old man off to a great start, why not rustle him up a yummy breakfast? We’re talking eggs, bacon, buttery toast, the lot.

Cook Together

Don’t mistake this for sexism; cooking together is healthy – and fun! Sure, some dads are so hardcore with their barbecue grills that they may not even want to let anyone else do the grilling. But if your dad’s cool with it, grill him up some juicy burgers, hot dogs, chicken or ribs. If he’s the compulsive grilling type, help him man the grill. And remember to have a natter amidst the barbecue smoke.

Watch a Good Film Together

Most dads grew up in the good old days when The Brady Bunch and Andy Griffith were trendy on television. Why not spend the evening watching some modern-day classics like My Girl, Father of the Bride, Three Men and a Baby or Big Fish on Father’s Day?

Take Daddy Somewhere Special

Find out where Dad’s always wanted to go and find a way to make it happen. Whether it’s Timbuktu, a day racing around the tracks in a Lamborghini or just a day beside the sea, your dad would be super touched if you made the effort to arrange something for him.

Make Dad a Card

It’s a known fact. Dads love to get cards from their kids, no matter how old they are and no matter where they live. Make Dad a card, and chances are it’ll still be sitting on his desk or mantelpiece a year from now. He’ll love it.

Write Dad a Song or Poem

Want to melt the cockles of Dad’s heart this year? Perhaps one of the most heart-wrenchingly sweet things you could do for your dad on June 16th would be to take some time to write him a song (if you’re the musical type, that is!) or a poem about how he’s been there for you, how much he’s done, how much you adore him, and how much he means to you.

This Father’s Day, don’t plump for the same old, same old socks and ties. Instead, tell Daddy dearest he’s the bee’s knees and set your sentiments in stone with a personalized Father’s Day gift from GoneDigging. It’s sure to melt the cockles of his heart on June 16th.
