Mmm.. Mmm.. Muddy Pig!

Sharing is caring!

We had so much fun making a pig craft for the book “I Know a Wee Piggy” that we decided to do a few more Pig Craft Projects specifically to go with their favorite line in the book, “Upside down, he wallowed in brown!”.  Want to follow along?

Pigs are a great theme idea when you’re teaching kids about spring, farms, zoos, or just by themselves! (This are great for our Farm Animals Unit Study!) Plus, they’re cute! And let’s be honest. Little kids love any reason to get messy. So this fun muddy pig activity is a perfect way to spend an afternoon with your toddlers and preschoolers!

Muddy Pig Craft Projects:

For this project, you’ll help the kids make their pig “muddy” by adding a ton of brown paint. It’s a great way to practice fine motor skills, color recognition, and art all at once!

What You Need:

What You Do:

To begin, I roughly drew a pig out of pink construction paper.   It is like a jungle of cords to get the printer hooked up these days, so suddenly printing templates just doesn’t seem worth it to me anymore.  Hoping to get that fixed soon!!

Wee Piggy

I cut the pig out and glued it “upside down” on the white paper, but of course, the kids had to right-side the pig before they could begin painting the Pig Craft Projects.  🙂

I put some brown paint on a paper plate and handed them a little sponge, explaining the brown paint was the mud.

We PIggy

They got right to work and got a real kick out of saying “Muddy Pig!”

Wee Piggy

Muddy! Muddy! Muddy!

Muddy Pig

Here some mud!  There some mud!

Finished!  I wish we would have put some GOOGLY eyes on the pig.  That would have really sent it over the top.

We’ve been working on letter sounds this month, so today we concentrated on the sounds for “M” (muddy) and “P” (pig).

Don’t forget to pick up the book I Know a Wee Piggy to read with your kids!

Also, be sure to check out the HUGE assortment of free printables, Pig Craft Projects, and lesson ideas based on I Know A Wee Piggy and Kim Norman’s other books over at her website: Kim Norman Books.  I love that she has lesson ideas for all the subjects including science and math and has lots of printables available as well!   You can find the Wee Piggy printables and resources here!
