Treasure Hunt Game Night Fun For All Ages

Sharing is caring!

Designing a family game night for all ages can be a real trick. The interests and abilities of a 4 year old, for instance, are way different from that of an 8 year old or a teen. Since this is a FAMILY game night, we want everyone to participate and have a good time.

This Treasure Hunt game is a combination of a hunt, a trivia game and a race to get a puzzle completed first.

Encourage players to let all team members participate–little ones can get left in the dust when highly competitive older siblings want to win bad enough.

Goal of the Game: to find eggs, answer the questions, earn puzzle pieces and put the team’s puzzle together first!
Preparation:  One person  (mom or dad, most likely) creates the questions and moderates the game.  That person also stuffs the eggs with the questions and hides them, before the party starts.
What you will need:
  1. Two identical puzzles (24 pieces)*
  2. Questions or Tasks written out on slips of paper
  3. Plastic fillable eggs*

PUZZLES: Have a table ready where the puzzles  will be put together.  Keep the box  close by so that players can see what the puzzle will look like. *You can find great, inexpensive puzzles and plastic eggs at Dollar Tree!

TEAMS: Set up teams. Teams should be a mixture of age groups.

QUESTIONS: Each egg will hold a trivia question to be answered, or a task to be done. Mark them for the age of the person to answer it. (Young Child – Child – Teen or -Adult) The host/hostess moderator has the answers to all of the questions.

RULES:  Everyone hunts for eggs as a team.  When they get an egg, bring it to the host/hostess who reads the question aloud. A team member answers the question.  When a question is answered correctly, the team earns a puzzle piece for their puzzle.  Once all of the clues have been found and the puzzle pieces awarded, the team puts their puzzle together. Whoever’s puzzle is completed first wins!

Winning the game is plenty exciting in itself but you may want to include a prize, as well.
Sample Questions:
  • Jump up and down three times and touch your nose.  (for youngest child)
  • ________________ was the first president of the United States  (older child)
  • In order to get a driving permit to learn to drive you must be _______ years
    old.  (for a teen)
  • The financial term GNP stands for ______ _______ ______.  (adult)
Refreshments  to be served before or after the game!Do you have family game nights? What kind of games does your family play?
