98 Days to Christmas + Holiday House Prep

100daystochristmasbanner Those days are slipping away pretty quickly!  Today is VERY easy for me as I am about 90% done with my Christmas shopping. :-)   I make a list on the day after Christmas each year and start my shopping for the next year.   The stores always have such great sales and I can usually get a few names marked off my list.  I am not keeping my list in my binder because I keep it in my purse.  This way, no matter where I am, I have it.  On my list I record exactly what I buy and how much it cost me.  How do you do yours?

HOLIDAY HOUSE PREP BONUS CHALLENGE:

So, how did you do yesterday with your left over cabinet?  I would love to see your before and after pictures!  Be sure to blog about it and add your direct link to the Mr. Linky!

Ok, I already love my Notebinder from Mead!

My days have gotten so busy that I have not had time to blog! I noticed that I have only managed to send in my Menu Plan and nothing else. Today, I had some down-time so I started looking at blogs… I came across List Mama’s Blog through Org Junkie’s and let me tell you, I have done nothing all day but read List Mama’s blog (well, and stop to run to Staples).

List Mama gave one of her famous lists about why she loved the Mead Notebinder and everything in her list appealed to me, so I ran out and bought one. :-) I have only had it for about an hour and already LOVE it. It seems perfect with ListPlanIt’s lists. I have the page protector dividers in the front labeled as: Current Checklists, Future Checklists and that is all, LOL! I have not gotten very far with it, but I have gone to potty and out to enjoy my nasty habit on the porch. It lies flat!! I think that was the main thing I was excited about. Plus, it is a bit sturdier than a regular notebook so I was able to write easily while sitting places other than a table.
I have spent so much money or binders, day planners, and have never found one that I liked. I think I have finally found my security binder!! Plus, I got it in a pretty purple color… GEAUX TIGERS (my oldest boy picked the color or me).
Did I mention that it is pretty small as far as binders go but still large? Does that make sense? They made this thing so it is not in the least bit bulky, yet plenty big enough to hold quite a bit of stuff.

Homeschooling Notes: Sunday, January 11, 2009

I use Homeschool Tracker for EVERYTHING! Writing lesson plans, keeping attendance, and keeping records. I have actually used it for several years, before even becoming a homeschooling mom. I did use it to keep track of all the housework I needed to do and in fact, still do. I have myself set up as a student with my courses being things like: kitchen, dailies, etc.

Homeschool Tracker

Please check it out, one version is free and the better version is cheap :-) I love it and would have spent 10 times for it. If you choose to purchase the full version, I ask that you use referral code HZRPL

Mom’s Manual Day #15

OK, you have your list of all the things your family likes – today we are going to start sticking those on our weekly menu. Begin your menu on the day after errands – pull your calendar and plan your meals that way. Just do one week… I always figure in quick meals on my work days – and longer meals on off days. Do you have Church one night a week? You may need quick meals to eat before then. Have fun with it! Feel free to grab the pic on the rught of my menu.

Mom’s Manual Day #14

Today is the hard day – sit down with a pen and paper and start making a list of all the foods your family enjoys. Ask the kids and husband, too. Main dishes are the most important but if there is something you always eat with a certain dish put it beside it.
For example: my kids love Busy Day BBQ meatballs but they only eat them with potato salad… roast calls for mashed potatoes, chili needs rice, fried fish calls for pork n beans…
