Kraft Has Frightfully Fun Finger Food Ideas for Halloween

We have already established that I really like Halloween.  It is so much fun to dress up and act silly for one night of the year!  Besides, I have boys and they love creepy crawlies and an excuse to eat pure junk. :-)

But, being the crafty girl I am, I like making fun foods and what better place to turn than to the Halloween tab on Kraft’s FaceBook page? Full of party planning tips, recipes, and even “how to” videos, it is the perfect place to go when looking for some frightfully fun finger foods for my boys. :-)

From eyeballs, to spooky pumpkins, there are all sorts of ways to make tasty Halloween cupcakes for your little ghosts and goblins. Of course, a big part of the fun is in the baking, so be sure to involve your kids in the process. What kid doesn’t like stirring the batter or testing out the frosting?

Then, once the Halloween cupcakes are out of the oven and have had a chance to cool off, set up a decorating station with various colored frostings and candies. Before you know it, marshmallows will transform into ghosts. Chocolate chips will become skull eyes and licorice will turn into spider legs or witches’ hair. Use these decorating tricks to make these cupcakes a treat:

  1. “Eyeball” Cupcakes
  1. Wigglin’ Jigglin’ Cupcakes
  1. Spider Cupcakes
  1. Skull Cakes
  1. Slimy Monster Cupcakes

Have fun and be sure to take a moment to tell me all about your fun Halloween foods and decorations.  Share a link to a blog post about your Halloween party and I will jump over there! :-)

Menu Plan Monday: WAR EAGLE and Halloween

So, we had an AWESOME weekend.  It all started with dance on Friday where us group of women discussed Football (seriously, guys we talked football!) and some how went to baby names and meanings.  Did you know Kelli means Warrior Princess. That’s right, don’t mess with me. LOL!

40150_10150294246985408_830425407_15047570_1697498_nOn Saturday we had two Halloween parties.  What do you think of my Halloween costume?  Plus, my UNDEFEATED team, Auburn, stomped the other SEC undefeated team, LSU.  War Eagle! :-)   Yes, I am from the South… that means football is a pretty big deal.

Last week was a flop as far as dinner goes.  My two oldest boys (DH and Tripp) were gone pretty much every night for the Spook Trail and I didn’t feel like cooking for my two pickiest eaters and myself.  We stuck with Spaghetti O’s, Corn Dogs, and Frozen Pizzas. :-)   That means I get to try again this week with last week’s menu.

Monday: Easy Italian Meatloaf , Potatoes and Cheese , and Green Beans

Tuesday: Chili

Wednesday: leftovers

Thursday: Fried Pork Chops and Potato Salad

Friday: if we don’t go out to eat after dance, then we will have leftovers.

How To Throw a Great Halloween Kids Party

Are you ready for Halloween? I am not, but I need to get that way!  We do it up pretty big down here in the South from games, to haunted trails, to awesome costumes, and spooky decorations!  Down here, Halloween kicks off the week before with a pretty cool party.  I have my recipes chosen now thanks to Kraft and I am so lucky to be able to share the following Kraft Foods guest post with you:

It goes without saying that there should be treats at any Halloween party, but what really makes it a special (and scary) occasion are the decorations. Go all out creating a Haunted House complete with unexpected surprises. Spooky games will help to set the ghoulish mood.

To play “Mummy Wrap,” all you need is a roll of toilet paper. The kids will have a blast wrapping each other up. Or else you can try bobbing for apples or play “Pin the Ghost on the Haunted House.”

You might even have the kids decorate their own Halloween cookies or design custom trick-or-treat bags. Of course, you can carve pumpkins into scary or silly faces. Or else let the kids use magic markers, glitter glue and feathers to decorate them. Don’t forget about a contest for best costume or a Halloween parade.

We hope these ideas will help inspire you to throw a spooky and fun Halloween party this year. For more Halloween party ideas, be sure to check out the brand-new Halloween tab on Kraft Food’s Facebook page. This special tab offers delicious recipes and how-to videos that will help you plan a party (for both kids and for adults) along with ideas for games & activities for a ghoulishly good time! (Mom Says:  OMG, this is a pretty awesome resource tab they have come up with! I am sure they will have us some major goodies for Thanksgiving and Christmas, too!)

Try making some Mummy-Face Pizzas as a fun, tasty appetizer for your guests:

What You Need:

  • 1 plain bagel (3-1/2 inch), cut horizontally in half
  • 2 Tbsp. pizza sauce
  • 2 sticks KRAFT STRING-UMS String Cheese
  • 4 slices black olives

Make It:

  • HEAT oven to 400ºF.
  • SPREAD bagel halves with sauce. Pull cheese into thin strips; place in random criss-cross fashion on tops of bagels to resemble mummy bandages. Trim ends with kitchen shears. Add olives for the eyes.
  • PLACE on baking sheet.
  • BAKE 10 min. or until bagels are crisp and cheese is melted.
