Elmer’s is making it easier to be eco-friendly on Earth Day – and beyond. To coincide with the 40^th anniversary of Earth Day, Elmer’s is inviting parents to get involved in the Elmer’s Glue Crew through the “40 Days of Earth-Friendly Living.” The campaign kicks-off on Earth Day (today) and offers a 40-day calendar of eco-friendly tips and ideas for parents and children to do together.

MAY 13th – Day #22

Print pages double-sided to reduce paper usage.

Mom Says: On second thought, don’t print pages unless you completely have to! Be sure to use thinner text, too to reduce ink usage!

Don’t Run The Water

When you brush your teeth, turn off the water to reduce water waste.

Mom Says: Do you know of other ways to reduce water waste? Check your taps to be sure you don’t have a drip. You might be amazed at how much water a small drip wastes! Wash dishes in a sink of water, instead of running the water the whole time! Take showers instead of baths. Water plants with leftover dish water or collected rainwater. Hold a Clothing or Book Swap

How did you do yesterday? Did you remember to link up yesterday’s contest submission?

MAY 11th – Day #20

Instead of trashing out-of-favor items, swap them with friends.

Mom Says: With 3 boys, by the time clothes make it through number 3, they aren’t really worth anything to anyone else, LOL! But, I use paperback swap for all of our books; school, blogging, personal enjoyment, etc. As of right now, I have saved about 600 bucks with it!

Shut down computers when they are not in use.

Mom Says: Use a multi-power cord and just unplug the entire thing. Did you know even turned off electronics still use some power if they are plugged in?

Happy Mother’s Day!

Show you care for mom – and Mother Earth – by hand-making a gift from the heart using recycled materials, such as a flower vase made from a reused baby food or spaghetti sauce jar.

Mom Says: We give our mothers plants for Mother’s Day every year! In my opinion, you can’t get much more green that plants. Plus, we are having a picnic type lunch. Sandwiches, fruit and veggie trays, and lemonade will be our Mother’s Day dinner this year. So, no hot, energy-eating, ovens!
