In My Bath GIVEAWAY: (BOOK) In My Bath (ages 2 6)

Today I am sharing with you this delightful little book called, In My Bath written by Beth Bence Reinke and illustrated by Ginger Nielson. The book takes us on a little boys adventure through bath time. Using his bath toys we go through a series of “events” that all centre around the normal tasks of taking a bath, like lathering up the soap bar, shampooing, rinsing and even cleaning under your nails with a nail brush. All under the guise of his animal toys and their natural environments, wrapping up when he realizes that he is cold and he slides into his green towel and promises to be back again.

This cute story is perfect to be read in the evening just before bath time as I am sure it will get your little one all excited for the fun to come. The little boys imagination in the book is very inspiring to young children and teaches them about proper hygiene as well as teaching them about the natural environments the animals live in.

My children are 6.5, 4.5 and 21 months. My 6.5 year old just enjoys having the book read to her, she liked all the animals. My 4.5 year old wasn’t specifically interested but he loves to have a story read to him. My 21 month old is far to busy to sit down and listen to a story just yet but I am glad we have this book around  so I can read it to him when he is ready to sit down and listen.

You can purchase this adorable bath time adventure directly from the publisher 4RV Publishing, LLC, on Amazon as paperback or ebook and Barnes and Noble online, and it can be ordered from your local bookstore. List price of $13.99.

Giveaway: Carla’s Cloud Catastrophe book

I love kids’ books, so I was very excited to read this one that sounded like lots of fun!

Carlas Cloud Catastrophe cover2 150x150 Giveaway: Carlas Cloud Catastrophe book

About Carla’s Cloud Catastrophe

Ever wonder what would happen if clouds fell from the sky? Disaster strikes two hours before Carla’s birthday party. Clouds scatter on the ground like giant cotton balls. Papa says, “The weather lady said a tornado knocked the clouds loose.” But how can this be? Carla dubs it a cloud catastrophe.

About the Author and Illustrator

Beth Bence Reinke is a registered dietitian who writes children’s books, devotional books for women, and magazine articles about food and nutrition. The inspiration for Carla’s Cloud Catastrophe came from her preschooler asking, “If the clouds were on the ground, could we walk on them?” Beth loves to read and enjoys watching NASCAR races and football games. Visit her at www.bethbencereinke.com

Ginger Nielson is a full-time children’s book illustrator who lives at the top of a hill, near the edge of a forest in semi-rural New Hampshire. There is a magic wand on her desk and a dragon in her basement. Everything else is perfectly normal. You can see examples of her work at www.gingernielson.com.

My Thoughts

I thought this was a super fun book!  I know kids love it when a character helps solve the problem and is a kid like them!  The illustrations were very well-drawn and went along quite nicely with the words, a great combination!  I like that kids can use their imaginations along with Carla and Anna.  I also really liked the fact that the Dad helped and listened to her!

Buy it!

You can buy it online at Amazon, 4RV Publishing online bookstore, or you can get autographed copies from author, or autographed copies from illustrator for only $14.99!

GIVEAWAY: PicPocket Books for iPhone/iPad

We love to read. It seems that one of the kids is always bringing me a book to read to them or to read to themselves; and I love it. But as technology creeps into our lives more and more, embracing the ebook is becoming more of a necessity. And let’s face it if you don’t have to bring along a bunch of books, which could get lost or destroyed in the car then ebooks are a must! There are many options out there for electronic reading but if you don’t want to be bogged down with all the choices or even all the clutter then an e-reader is certainly the way to go.

A good majority of people nowadays have either an iPhone, an iPad or an iPod Touch at their disposal. And I don’t think I have to tell you how handy they come in when you have kids and they are…wait for it……BORED!!! (or whiney, or clingy, or travelling, etc.)! That’s where PicPocket Books comes in. PicPocket Books are interactive children’s books specifically for your, iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Tractor Mac 300x225 GIVEAWAY: PicPocket Books for iPhone/iPadWith PicPocket Books your child can: Look at the same pretty pictures featured in the printed book! Listen to one of our narrators or to one of the family! Touch the screen to turn the page or let the page turn automatically, perfect for less dexterous little ones! and Learn to read! Words will highlight as the text is read and replay when touched for on-the-go education.

We were given the opportunity to review, Cinderella, Tractor Mac Arrives at the Farm, Dinosaurs and Sunny Bunnies. K, my daughter (age 6) loved the Cinderella book! She asks constantly to “read” the book again and again. L, my son (age 4) really liked how interactive Tractor Mac Arrives at the Farm is. He really enjoyed tapping around the screen to see which animal sound was going to play next. Though he was a bit impatient to get to the next screen! Dinosaurs is good for any boy who loves dinosaurs and Sunny Bunnies will be perfect for my youngest as he gets older! You can choose to have the books read to your child by a narrator with each word highlighted as it is read or you can turn off the audio and have your child read it themselves.

They have a great selection of books, with more being added to the list, available  through the App Store for the very reasonable price point of $0.99 to $3.99 per book.

PicPocket Books has generously offered to giveaway to one of our very lucky readers 3 books of your choice! (NOTE: Winner must have access to an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch)

About the Author

Colleen 150x150 Giveaway: Preschool Parties book

I started my publishing career as the editor and stylist for several leading home and craft publications, creating concepts and overseeing the launch and production of magazines including Jo-Ann’s etc, Family Circle Homecrafts, FTD inbloom, and At Home with Chris Madden. The birth of my second daughter, Katie, prompted me to try it my own way as a lifestyle expert and author. Punch, It’s Five o’Clock Somewhere, Fairy Parties and The Stylish Girl’s Guide to Fabulous Cocktails were soon born along with my son, Jack — making my family of five complete. I look forward to growing my brand so that some day my children can join me. At 9, 6 and 5, with glue sticks, markers, glitter and spatulas in hand, they’re well on their way!

My Thoughts

I think this is a fabulous book!  There are 15 different party plans.  The plans include: the schedule, invitations, how to “set the scene,” what to do before, what supplies are needed, what games to play (and how to play them), menu and recipes! It has templates for making some of the crafts/cookies in the book too!  You can see pictures of the party in action, which is fantastic!  There are so many ideas that I’m not sure how my daughter is going to pick (her birthday is coming up next month)!  I can’t wait to try it out and make her birthday AWESOME!!!
