Tell us about you and Edamam:
Edamam is a cross-section of my two passions: food and technology. I love food. I think about it all day, every day and cook all the time. I am also a serialtech entrepreneur. So, after I sold my last company, the idea to start Edamam – a place that organizes the world’s food knowledge and helps people eat better – came naturally. We now have a best-in-class recipe search that will allow anyone (parents in particular) to find healthy, delicious high quality recipes through their website and mobile app. The service makes it easy to narrow down recipes based on diet and health restrictions and has a convenient shoppinglist for each recipe. This helps users manage everything with one hand while in the store pushing a cart.
Describe each of your children in one sentence.
I have an 8-year-old son, who is extremely inquisitive, very well traveled and simply courageous when it comes to trying new food.
Do you have pets? Tell us your favorite pet story!
We had pets, but not at the moment. We’ve had birds for a while, but now it seems the time to get a dog has come. So we are discussing breeds.
What would you tell your 17-year-old self if you could?
I’ll make myself read the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling and especially those four lines:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same.
Describe yourself in only 3 words.
Passionate. Steadfast. Fearless.
It is 9 pm on a typical weekday evening. Where are you and what are you doing?
I am home saying good night to my son, before wrapping up the day and allowing myself an hour to unwind and read.
Please share your favorite kid-friendly, mom/dad -approved recipe!
I have always preached and practiced that any recipe is kid-friendly as long as the kid eats it. My son, when asked at the beginning of 1st grade, what his favorite dish is, answered broccoli rabe. A dish he likes a lot at this time of year is one with kale, onions and raisins – healthy, nutritious and delicious.
