If I buy a big bulk of meat (which I do on a fairly regular basis), I cook it and seasoning it up, sort it into approximately 1 pound bags and freeze it. Then, when I make Tacos, Spaghetti, Chili, Sloppy Joes, or other things that call for ground hamburger meat, I have some ready to use without having to go through the cooking process!
Here’s what I do, it is actually very simple. I am writing this recipe with the assumption that you are buying a 3 lb package, but you can add or subtract as needed:
3 medium onions
3 lb 90% lean ground beef or 93% lean ground turkey
3 garlic cloves, pressed
1. Chop onions.
2. Place onions, beef and minced garlic into (12-in.) Skillet. Cook over medium-high heat 15-18
minutes or until beef is no longer pink.
3. Divide beef mixture into three portions.
You may freeze the portions for future use. This is great for sloppy joes, chili, spaghetti, tacos, and more!
