Letter of the Week Activities for Preschoolers

Sharing is caring!

Do you have a preschooler who is learning his (or her) alphabet? A great way to help preschoolers learn and remember is to incorporate hands on learning for them.

Over on Crystal & Co., I have a collection of letter of the week activities for preschoolers that essentially can be used as an all inclusive homeschool curriculum.  Not only is it free to download the printables and templates, but we cover many realms of learning and we make it super fun.

You will find letter of the week crafts, worksheets to print, handwriting practice for each letter, books to read that focus on each letter, poems and rhymes to incorporate, as well as hand print art and snack ideas. There are activities for every letter of the alphabet.

Using this method is how my twins (now 8) learned their alphabet when they attended mothers day out. It is also the method I am using, now that we homeschool, as I teach our 5 year old the alphabet and the sounds each letter makes.

Let me show you exactly what you will find.

Letter of the Week Crafts

We have a craft for each letter of the alphabet. We provide a free printable template that allows you to make an A for alligator, a B for butterfly, a C for car, etc., with step by step instructions for assebly.

At the end of each craft tutorial there is a song or rhyme you can incorporate with the craft.

Take a look at all of the letter of the week crafts you can do with your preschooler or young learner!

Do a Dot Printables

We also have do a dot printables for every letter of the alphabet.

Each printable is created off of the theme for the crafts. So, you will find all of the A’s on the alligator page, all of the B’s on the butterfly page, all of the C’s on the car page.

Kids will use do a dot markers to identify these letters.

This is excellent for letter recognition and fine motor skill building.

Handwriting Practice for Preschoolers

With learning the alphabet comes writing (or tracing) the alphabet.

We have a printable for each letter that lets them practice tracing capital and lowercase letters. The worksheets also allows for independent practice.

books children must read when learning their alphabet

Books Lists

Make learning the alphabet come to life by reading books!

I love to incorporate stories that lend focus to the letter we’re learning.

Here is our handpicked collection of books children must read for each letter of the alphabet as well as other themes.

Hand Print Art

Do you love keepsakes? I do! When my children make art I want to keep it forever.

We have created a series of hand print art projects for kids that go off of our letter of the week crafts.

We show you step by step how to make an A for alligator using your child’s hand print. Other crafts include b is for butterfly, c is for car, d is for dog, e is for eagle, etc.

Kids and parents will love these handprint alphabet ideas!
