Truth be told my hair hasn’t been as long as it is now since I was a tween. After many, many years of razor-short haircuts I decided to test the level of my patience and let it grow. While I still have a long way to go to get to my true desired length, my hair is finally able to take and hold a curl. However, since it’s so short, traditional drugstore-type curling irons weren’t hitting or should I say making the mark. The few that did left me with Shirley Temple tight curls that would be super cute on my 7 year old daughter, but alas, on a 38 year old not so much.
The Tyme Iron is truly a revolutionary product. First of all, it heats up to an impressive 400 degrees in a matter of about 15 seconds from turning it on. Don’t let that high temperature scare you…. I realized I am holding it against my hair for a such shorter time than a traditional curling iron.
One of the keys to the Tyme Iron is in its gold-plated, titanium plates. That type of plating allows for maximum curl in a minimum amount of time. The second key component is the design. Tyme is designed to be rotated and placed against your hair and after your hair is placed in between the plates, it’s all about working your angles. It is also important not to use too much tension. Once you have the iron in place, glide the hair gently through. Squeezing too hard will cause creases in your hair.
I have to warn you, using this iron will go against every body and arm position you are used to with your typical hair styling products. After many failed attempts, I had to relearn Tyme Iron body, angle, and styling positions. Once I achieved that, the results were so simple and quick. It also helps that the Tyme has a rotating swivel cord, so you will never get tied up in the process! It also helps to learn your angles in a mirror so that you can achieve the look you want.
Tyme also offers live, face to face styling appointments where you can Skype or Facetime with a Tyme expert to get the hands on and live, visual help you need. I strongly recommend you take advantage of this free service to get you on your way. At $189 this is a bit of an investment, but I promise you it is worth it.
