Outback Steakhouse is a great “special” place to eat, but as a family of five on one income, it isn’t something we get to do every often. So, when Kraft Foods asked if I wanted to try out Outback’s new Strawberry Waffle Shortcake irresistible dessert, I certainly couldn’t pass it up. It might not look like much and to be honest it didn’t sound all that great, but HOLY MOLY that was one FABULOUS desert!
I am sure you can image the boys’ surprise when I went out to eat without them!
I thought long and hard about who I would take with me on my Kick Back With The Girls Outback Adventure… I have friends and acquaintances that I really, seriously, thought of taking… but, my best friends are: my Mom and my Grandmother. I am also very close to my Mother-in-Law and did not want her left out! So, we loaded up and were treated to a little special service by the great people at the Outback! Seriously, we had a waitress completely to ourselves! They changed the television station to the Horse Race for my Meemaw, and we had a blast!
Above is my Mother-in-law on the left and my Grandmaw on the right – looks FABULOUS for pushing 80, doesn’t she? She will be 80 on July 10th… seriously hope I have her genes! LOL! I know she is all made up so it is hard to tell, but this lady looks just as good even when she is working in her yard.
Above is my Mom and Me. We even wore matching colors, go figure. LOL! Anyway, you should have seen how long it took the four of us to finally settle on food (and the amount we brought home with us – WOW! The portions are pretty big at Outback.
Of course, you can’t go to Outback without getting the original Bloomin’ Onion®, but I don’t like the sauce so I always ask for some Ranch Dressing on the side. Yum!
My Mother-in-Law and Meemaw got the Alice Springs Chicken® and I was so jealous when it arrived, because I wish I had gotten it. LOL! Doesn’t that look so delectable? Bacon, Chicken, Cheese – how could that possibly NOT be good?
I decided not to get the Alice Springs Chicken because it is “topped with sautéed mushrooms” but, duh, I could have asked them to leave that off. No big deal, the Grilled Chicken on the Barbie was so yummy and I am really partial to their Garlic Mashed Taters! I am kind of funny about my BBQ Sauce (hey, I live in the south, what do you expect?) but this was just right. Not to tangy, not too sweet, and not to hot. Nor did they try to drown the chicken in it. Mmm…
Mom got the 6 oz. Outback Special® Steak I know Mom’s plate looks kind of empty, but that is because she got a salad that I forgot to take a picture of. LOL! I was too busy stuffing my face with the Bloomin’ Onion and yummy bread when her salad came to pull out the camera. She said the steak was really good, too.
Honestly, I had such a great time with the girls and they all really enjoyed going that I am seriously hoping to do some more Restaurant reviews in the future. LOL!
