The Complete Idiots Guide to Couponing by Rachel Singer Gordon is a new resource for couponers. Just to get you excited, here is a sample of her guide to finding coupons. I promise, you’ll want to buy it and one lucky reader will win one!
To save the most by couponing, it’s important to build up your stash so you always have coupons to match up with sales. But where do you find them? While you’re probably most familiar with the inserts in the Sunday newspaper, we can also find coupons all around us—when we know where to look. In this idiots guide, we’ll look at places to find coupons to supplement the Sunday inserts and save, even if you live in a rural area where the newspaper inserts are skimpy (or nonexistent!).
Print manufacturer coupons right from your own computer. Most major coupon sites release a large new batch of coupons at the beginning of each month, then add smaller batches randomly throughout the month.
After you’ve checked out the major coupon printing sites, you can find more coupons right on company and brand websites and Facebook pages.
After you’ve checked the company’s website for current coupons, be sure to look for a “contact us” link near the bottom of the page.
Manufacturers put out coupons in your local grocery and drugstore to encourage impulse buys. Even if you’re not originally planning to buy a product, if you see a handy coupon right there, you’re more likely to decide to throw it in your cart. Be a savvy shopper: instead of using that in-store coupon right away, pop a couple in your pocket. Save them for a sale, or take them to another store where you can pick up the product cheaper
Woman’s magazines are the most likely to contain coupons, either inside ads or in little pull-out coupon inserts. Watch for subscription deals on Amazon.com, which often sells these types of magazines for $5.00 a year or less.
Keep an eye out wherever you go, and you’ll start seeing coupons everywhere. Collect coupons wherever you can and file them away so that you’re prepared for any sale that comes along.
