Don’t forget to grab your favorite toppings and create an epic flavor with each bite. My boys love to add fun new twists to each slider so that each one tastes differently.

If you want to make this a low-carb recipe, you can opt for a lettuce wrap or a lettuce “bun” instead of the bread. You have so many options!

And yes, there is so much cheese on these sliders, but in my opinion, there is always room for more! More cheese, please, is pretty much my motto in life!

Why are they called sliders?

Sliders, those miniature sandwiches that have found their way into the hearts of fast-food aficionados and gourmet chefs alike, actually owe their name to an interesting bit of culinary vernacular.

Originally used by the U.S. Navy in the 1940s, the term ‘slider’ described a small greased burger that slid across the griddle as easily as it did down one’s throat.

Today, the name has stuck and transcends simple burgers to encompass a variety of small sandwiches – from pulled pork to chicken parmesan – that slide right off the plate and into our collective craving.

Cooking tips for crafting the perfect slider focus on balancing the tender interior with a lightly crisped exterior, often achieved by cooking on a flat top and keeping the size to just a few flavorful bites.

Whether it’s the delectable fillings or the ease with which these tiny treats can be consumed, sliders remain a fan favorite, charming their way onto menus with each savory, sliding morsel.

What are the best toppings for sliders?

A classic choice combines crisp lettuce, ripe tomato, and thinly sliced red onion, providing a fresh contrast to the savory meat. A dollop of chipotle aioli or garlic mayo can add a delectable richness and a bit of spice for a creamy twist.

Cheese lovers might opt for a slice of sharp cheddar or smoked gouda that melts beautifully when placed atop the patty straight off the grill.

If you’re feeling adventurous, caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms bring a gourmet touch to your sliders, imbuing them with deep, earthy flavors.

And for a tangy kick, a spoonful of zesty pickle relish or crunchy pickles never goes amiss. Remember, the key to topping sliders is proportion – ensure that each component is balanced with the size of the slider for a harmonious bite that packs a flavorful punch.

Cooking tip: always add softer toppings like avocado or sauces after the sliders are cooked to maintain the perfect texture.
