Looking at the Seasons {Preschool}

How’s the weather in your neck of the woods?  Just when things look they are warming up a bit around here,  we get blasted with another snow storm!  I keep promising the kids that spring is just around the corner, but I’m starting to have my doubts!  This week, we talked a bit about the four seasons and decided to do some coordinating landscapes.  Today we’ll take a look at Winter and Spring pictures.   Want to follow along?

Snowy Day Picture

Snowy Day

What You Need:

  • Green Construction Paper  (or brown if you are going for realistic!)
  • Blue Construction Paper
  • Cotton Ball
  • Glue

What You Do:

We started by talking about the color of the sky (blue) and the color of the grass (green).  If we were being a bit more realistic, we might have talked about how the grass turned brown in the winter, but since the kids are pretty young, we decided to keep things basic.

I ripped the blue paper in half and had kids glue it on the top of a sheet of green paper.

Then I showed the kids how to fluff out the cotton balls a little to make snow on the ground and snow in the air.

Snowy Day

Of course, each kid made their own version of a snowy day!

Spring Day Picture

Right now, our church is filled with tulips and hyacinths and it really smells like spring when you walk through the doors!  Maybe there is hope that Spring is around the corner!  For our spring picture, we decided to focus on all the different flowers.   Let’s get started!

What You Need:

  • Green Construction Paper
  • Blue Construction Paper
  • Different Colors or Patterns of paper for the flowers
  • Flower template (I found mine over at First Palette)

What You Do:

While the kids were napping, I cut flowers in several different colors.  At craft time, we talked about how the weather was getting warmer and soon flowers would be coming out!

Spring Flowers

We ripped paper in half to create a sky and grass like in the Snowy Day Picture and then I passed out flowers and told the kids to go crazy!

Here’s what they came up with:

Happy Crafting!
