66 Days ‘Til Christmas + Holiday House Prep

How are you doing with the 100 Days to Christmas? I am getting there, really starting to panic a bit though because my house is a TOTAL disaster! I have boxes of review products in every corner (because of the Holiday Gift Guide in addition to my regularly scheduled program), dishes have piled a bit, the carpet needs vacuuming (but I need to find it first), and no matter how many loads of laundry I wash, the pile does not seem to be shrinking. Today, I have decided to make a dent somehow… keep reading to find out how!

71 Days Until Christmas – What will your kids use to collect their sweets this Halloween? Mine have little plastic pumpkins and we keep large bags in the back of the truck. When their pumpkins fill we dump them in the bag.

70 Days Until Christmas – Do you use an Advent Calendar? We do. We have a cute felt one that matches our Christmas Decor. I have never filled the little bags, but I am thinking I need to this year. The problem is that the bags are REALLY little and I have three boys. LOL!

69 Days Until Christmas – Catch Up! I am getting better at this. Besides, I am really liking my posts with a few days at once. What about you?

68 Days Until Christmas – Pumpkins!! Have you picked your Pumpkins yet? We have! Remember my Dremel post?

67 Days Until Christmas – Baking Day! Today we should make a loaf of Pumpkin Bread or muffins. I make pie closer to Thanksgiving and since I am not a Pumpkin Fan, we will not be doing this one! LOL!

66 Days Until Christmas – Pamper Your Pet! Just a reminder to do something for your Pets this Holiday Season. We have a stocking for Annie and had one for each of the other animals when we had them. Our animals always get goodies at Christmas-time. In fact, last year Annie got a Wii from my mom. Why? So the boys could not fight over it. LOL!

Days To Christmas + Holiday House Prep

I hope you have been following along at 100 Days To Christmas because obviously, I am not real good at remembering to post my progress each day. OK, I remember, I just haven’t had time. LOL!

Here’s what we have missed:

89 Days Until – Take the Family on a mini-trip to a Fall place close to home. We have corn mazes, hay-rides, haunted houses, and haunted trails around. We haven’t been anywhere yet, but they are on our Calendar!

88 Days Until – Make an apple recipe. OK, this one has also not been done yet, but the supplies are on our shopping list. I am actually making a pumpkin pie or nine, depending on the size of the pumpkin we purchase.

87 Day Until – Costume Planning. Ha! This one is DONE! All three kids have costumes. Me and Ricky, on the other hand do not, nor do I know when we are going to get them. But, we have a party to attend on the 24th, so we better get busy!

86 Days Until – Hosting Halloween. Yep, this one is also done. We have two Halloween parties, a fundraiser Haunted Trail (Ricky’s baseball team), Zack’s school party, Trick-Or-Treating at the local Convalescent Home, a Dinner, and Halloween Trick-Or-Treating. Yikes, looks crazy when you put it down like that. ROTFL! Anyway, we have to have everything planned and prepared or we go NUTS!

85 Days Until – Decorate for Halloween. We have started this one, but I keep telling Ricky that we are missing a box and he won’t get back in the attic to look. So, until he does, we are done. LOL!

84 Days Until – Handmade Goodies. Who do you make handmade items for? You need to be setting aside time each day to get those completed! I am not really doing any this year.

83 Days Until – Catch up Day! Whew, even missed the catch up. LOL!

82 Days Until – Today you should have been looking at the beautiful Fall colors. Unfortunately, we don’t really have Fall colors down here in South Alabama. We have Spring, Summer, and Winter. Our stuff is either growing, in bloom, or dead. LOL! The leaves die, we don’t get pretty colors.

81 Days Until – Today you are supposed to go back over your budget and start making plans from all those catalogs.

80 Days Until – Go through your stash. We all have a stash of gifts that we have either gotten and don’t need or bought at a great price during the year. Do you have anything you can give to someone on your list?

79 Days Until – Plan to do something this Christmas Season… movie, theater, musical, etc… watch for the dates and put them on your calendar!

78 Days Until – Halloween! Time to add candies and goodies to your shopping list. I already got mine at Sam’s.

77 Days Until – Today we are supposed to be finding some Holiday Crafts. Here are some great sites:

76 Days Until – Catch Up Day (and I missed the second one LOL!)

75 Days Until – Go on a leaf hunt! Doesn’t that sound like fun? I am adding it to our school plan and will have Tripp find out what tree each leaf belongs to and make a poster.

74 Days Until – Work on a project… one of those Fall things. We actually did this and on the correct day. Zack and Ricky carved a pumpkin using our new Dremel Pumpkin Carving Kit (look for review and GIVEAWAY soon.)

73 Days Until – Pictures… time to make a photo appointment! How long has it been since you had a family photo made? It has been so many years for us that neither Tank nor Zack are in it. Yikes! I added this to my calendar for later… especially because my mother keeps begging for one.

72 Days Until – This is TODAY! Can you believe I am caught up? Holiday gift wrap. Do you have enough paper, bows, bags, labels, etc? We should… mom and I go together. We can have more designs if they are split between us. Nice!

BONUS HOLIDAY HOUSE PREP:

Today we are going to go about this one a little different. Is your computer ready to handle all the photos, emails, newsletters that you are going to be getting this upcoming holiday season? I know mine isn’t! As of this minute, my computer is running so slowly that I am ready to throw it out, plus with almost 200 emails in my inbox that I need to deal with, I have a ton of computer work to do. Here’s what I suggest:

Run Disk Clean Up
Run your anti-virus software all the way through
Clean up your inbox – can you get it to zero?
Back up your hard drive
Run your anti-virus software.

Do you remember when I sent out a message to my readers looking for contributors? I picked a couple! I want all my readers to welcome my FIRST regular contributors at 3 Boys and a Dog! Told you I was going to be doing some AWESOME stuff on the new Mom Cube (word press) site! Bringing new authors is just the tip of the iceberg!

Okay. Howdy fellow blogger friends! I now have a chance to be a regular contributor on 3boysandadog! YEAH! I am the one,the only ONE CLUTTERED BRAIN. (That’s my bloggy stage name.) I am married to a wonderful man and I have three beautiful daughters, ages 10,7 and 2. I have been blogging since January 2009 so I am fairly new out here in Bloggyland. At first I was like all you probably. I was timid and not quite sure how to wear my bloggy hat. But since Jan I have learned a thing or two from blogging. It’s about getting your feelings out. It’s about making friends. It’s all about the bloggy love people. Can you feel the bloggy love?

I decided to give this a shot and help Kelli out with her blog. Hello! My name is Kim. You may see my name with a few posts here and there, I am a contributor to 3 Boys And A Dog. I have my own blog, Mom Tried It, that I started the end of August 2009. I found that every time two or more moms got together it became tip and idea sharing time. So I started a blog that shares tips, ideas, and sanity savers for moms (with the occasional product review). I love to try new things, so the blog works out perfect.

I am a Texan that moved to my husband’s hometown in Southern Illinois. We got married in 2002.

My husband, Matt, is the network administrator at the local high school. He loves to play the "If we won the lottery…" game, but the problem is, we don’t play the lottery. He is a wonderful husband and an outstanding dad!

Our son, Cole, was born in 2006. He is sweet, extremely compassionate, very hyper, and all about trucks. He is just 100% boy (Mommy’s boy and I love it)!

Our daughter, Charley, was born in 2008. She is her mommy with a different exterior. She is bold, outspoken (even though she can’t talk yet), a fighter, and thinks her brother and her daddy hung the moon.

In my spare time (huh, what is that?) I like to sew, do crafts, and bake with the kids. I am always up for trying new things and love watching my kids faces when they experience it with me. I spend every day trying to be a better wife, mother, and Christian, but not in that order. I look forward to posting on 3 Boys And A Dog and thank you for the opportunity to share time and experiences with you.

There ya’ go! The newest additions to my blog family. Keep your eyes open because I just might be adding a fourth person to the group!

My biggest gripe about organizers/planners/calendars are they are never big enough! I am a Mom to 5 teenagers. There is never enough room to include all the kids schedules – biggest thing for me right now.
