NEW Kraft Product: FreshTake #deliciousbyte

Ok, this stuff was amazing!  There is no other way to say it, it was amazing!  LOL!  Ricky said, “Oh man! I wish there was a restaurant around here that made stuff like this!”  I was like, “Why a restaurant?  It is much cheaper if I just make it and it was super easy… seriously, I video taped and the thing was about 9 minutes!”

Be sure to jump over t my new site Southern Mom Cooks for the Cheesy Southwestern Chicken recipe!

So, yes, I video taped and you can see me getting on to my kids. HA!  If you are reading this post via email or in a reader, you may need to click on over so you can see it.

Hot Date with the Hubby and Glee! #cbias #CouchCritics

glee collage

For my birthday, my husband and I had great plans to go out to eat and to the movies.  Then, I got the great opportunity to rent a movie!  So, we went out to eat and then came home to enjoy the rest of our date.  So much cheaper and we could pause the movie whenever we wanted!

So, you want to go on my date with me?  Here we go!

First, I set up sitters for the boys for the entire night. Then, I got busy doing a facial mask, shaving, straightening my hair, etc!  While in the middle of that, I went to Redbox Online to reserve Glee the Movie!  I have reserved movie online before and must say it is the easiest way to go.

  • #1 – We don’t have to drag all the kids to the super busy Redbook and spend an hour listening to them fight over what movie we are going to rent.  We can do the fighting at home and then the loser gets to go with Daddy to pick up the movie.
  • #2 – Most of the time, I can get a movie online with a reservation that I can’t get at the Redbox in person!
  • #3 – It takes much less time in line!

With that said, I do have a major gripe.  While reserving a movie online is like $.20 cents cheaper, you can’t use special codes!  Seriously, how hard would it be to add in the enter code here button of the online rental process?I have Totino’s codes, Coke rewards codes, a code for my birthday and I have a hard time using them because anything we want to see is not in stock  unless we rent it online!! Frustrating to say the least.

For more information on Redbox, be sure to:

Then, we grabbed our Ruby Tuesday gift card that we got as a Christmas present and headed out to drop kids along the way. Since our local Walgreen’s was on the way, we went ahead and collected our movie.  Next Stop:  Ruby Tuesdays! Ok, let me just say… the endless salad and biscuits at Ruby Tuesday are to die for!  No, seriously.  The biscuits are so stinking yummy that I am going to try to recreate them, so look for that recipe soon!  See, how good they look?20111113121915Next, we headed to Walmart to pick up some yummy ConAgra snacks for our movie night.  Wow, I don’t think I have ever spent so much time in a Wal-Mart just to buy a couple things.  I am not going to get too much into it, but I didn’t have a ton of luck!  If you click the top picture, you will be taken t my Google+ photo album where you can see my entire trip and why it was frustrating.  Why?  Because they had almost nothing that I was looking for.  The shelves were a mess and fairly empty!  Then, my battery died, so the picture that I took of my shopping cart didn’t come out.
But, the only things I got were:
  • 2 cans of Rotel
  • 1 SnackPack of Sugar Free Pudding
  • 1 Box of Act II Butter Lovers
  • and 1 $15.00 iTunes gift card!
Why so little? Because they were out of everything!  Look at the empty space in this aisle!  Many of the aisles were like this!
    20120120185311

Then, we headed home and settled down with our snacks to watch Glee the Movie!

It was not what I expected.  I am too stupid to realize that it was a concert. LOL!  Yeah, I call myself a Gleek, but obviously I am not nearly as “in the know” as I thought I was.  How did I miss the 3D Glee Concert Movie when it came to the Theaters?  Where was I??

My husband actually likes Glee, but being the jock that he is, he pretends he doesn’t. LOL!  So, when I said we had to rent it for my review, he said, “You HAD to rent Glee??  Isn’t that convenient?”  Tee hee!

Anyway, I loved it, of course!  My favorite part of the entire movie was when Artie got up and danced!

Who is your favorite character?  I like them all, but I think after last week’s show right now Becky is my favorite!

My Thoughts

I was so excited to try these out!  I have high arches and can hardly ever find shoes that give me the support I need!  So, I have bought the arch supports, but they made it so that my shoes felt too tight!  So, I would take them out and just deal with the foot pain.  No more!  These fit in my shoes with no problem and are super comfortable!  You can feel the gel!  I love them!  I’m sure my husband is going to want his own!  They are even easy to clean!  Hurray for GelThotics!

Buy it!

You can buy your own here for $59.99!  It’s worth it for the lack of pain!

Win it!

GIVEAWAY: The Penelope Rose 3D Children’s Book for iPhone/iPad

Like most kids mine love books! Especially search and find type books and the tougher they are the better. I have one who can read, an up and coming reader, a book chewer and one who doesn’t know what a book is yet, so as you can imagine we have all kinds of different books lying around the house. What we don’t have are very many children’s e-books. E-books are handy for keeping kids busy on long car rides, in the grocery store or waiting at the doctor’s office. Interactive e-books are even better.

Mobad Games has created 3D interactive Peek ‘N Play books that not only encourage your child to read but they also keep their attention for a very long time. I gave the iPad to my daughter, who is almost 7 years old, and asked her to play around with The Penelope Rose app and give me her honest opinion. I watched her play for quite sometime and noticed that she was more interested in finding the hidden treasures then in the story itself! When I asked her what she thought of the app she said it was “Awesome!”. She said it was easy to use and the 3D effects were “cool”. Her favorite part of the book was finding all the pixies and painting the flowers. Even though she can read herself, she chose to have the app read the book to her, likely so she could focus on finding stuff lol. The narrators voice is very soothing and easy to listen to.

The Penelope Rose is a magical fairytale of how roses were saved and fairies became the artists of the winged world. Check out the trailer here.

We also had the opportunity to review their newest 3D book Billie the Unicorn, I downloaded this one onto my iPod to try and it was just as fun as The Penelope Rose! I gave this one to my, almost, 5 year old son to try out and he really enjoyed it! He likes to have books read to him so he listened to the story first then started tapping around looking for what would make a sound next.

I think what I really enjoyed about these apps was how simple it was for my kids to navigate through and figure out what to do without being told. Though to tell you the truth they don’t need much instruction for any app on the iPod/iPad! The stories were cute and engaging and the graphics were quite well done. The 3D pictures were really neat, depending on how you tipped the device you could see behind the layers to find some of the hidden treasures. You have to see it in action the screenshots don’t do it justice! I’ve never seen or used an app that could do that. Both stories really kept my kids engaged, even my 2 year old was tapping all over the screen and grabbing the iPod to turn it this way and that, trying to “help” his siblings ;) .

The young unicorn Billie seeks adventure, so her forest cousins show her how to grow delightful flowers. But the legend of a castle which holds the most beautiful garden lures her away! Will Billie discover that friendship matters the most? Check out the trailer here.

Each story has two reading options, I Can Read and Read To Me, making it a very versatile app for all ages. If you’re stuck on a word you just simply tap the word and it is read for you, or if you’re stuck on a few words simply drag your finger over the words to have them played back. In the Read To Me mode the words are highlighted as it goes for your child to follow along. Though the 3D effects are more visible on the iPad, the iPhone/iPod versions are just as good and perfect for those outings where carrying an iPad along just isn’t practical.

I just got some exciting news from Mobad Games as well! They are releasing a new 3D Peek ‘N Play book just in time for the Chinese New Year that begins on Monday(Jan 23rd). It’s called The Year of the Dragon watch for it to become available in the iTunes app store very soon!

2012 is the Year of the Dragon! Dominic’s proud parents rule the sea and sky, advise the Emperor, and have high expectations for their son. Meanwhile Dom befriends the boy Bo and the other zodiac animals, who wish to paddle a boat in the village’s annual river race. Check out the trailer here.

Check out all their apps available in the iTunes App Store, with prices ranging from $1.99 (for the Highlights books) and $4.99 (The Penelope Rose HD for iPad) these books are a steal!

Win it!

Three of our lucky readers are going to get a chance to win their choice of story app and as a bonus Mobad Games will also give each winner a code for one of their Highlights Hidden Pictures games!

REQUIRED COMMENT: Visit the website, and tell me which story you’d choose if you won.
