I got a CHI flat iron for Christmas and while it did a FABULOUS job, it only lasted a couple months before the on/off switch broke on it.  After a bit of research, I found that is very common and with shipping and the repair fee, it is almost better to just buy a new one.  So, I have been using my Hana Mini since February.  It also does a good job, but with all my hair, straightening with such a tiny flat iron took me AGES.  So, when The Product Review Place gave out the contact info for a Hana Flat Iron from Misikko to review, I jumped on it.  Misikko carries the best flat irons for personal and professional use.

I have said it before and I will say it again.  Customer Service means a TON in my book!  I love the way Misikko made me feel special with their box of goodies.  They didn’t just send me a flat iron, they sent a case, heat pad, fingernail files, and more!

So, let’s move on to my video.  Sorry! It is super long because I wondered exactly how long it would take me to straighten my hair and because I found I liked chatting on the video camera.   If you spend the whole video critique my complexion and my grays it goes by really fast.  Trust me, I have watched it (in this manner) at least 6 times. LOL!  I say in the video that I am going to speed it up before sharing it… well, I didn’t.

Now, if I could review one of their professional blow dryers, I would be set.   I love this pink blow dryer by CHI.  Isn’t it great?  It even comes with a diffuser so I can do my hair curly if I want.

It isn’t like we can just tell our overly-sensitive tween boys that they stink and it is embarrassing us!   So, how do we deal?  Let me give you some background first.

Tripp is 10 and will be 11 in November.  The hair on his legs has gotten REALLY dark and I see some black peach fuzz in the corners of his upper lip!  WHAT!?? But my baby is ONLY TEN! Oh yeah… the other day he reached over me for something and I thought I was going to vomit.  About this same time, I got an email from Mom Central telling me about this awesome new site by Unilever Deodorants: Don’t Fret The Sweat.

The very first Q and A really grabbed me and I begged to be part of this campaign.   Straight from the Don’t Fret The Sweat website:

Eight!?  Holy Cow! Thanks goodness I didn’t have to deal with this at 8.  But, isn’t it funny how different kids are?  Zack is 8 and he is in love with smelling good.  So, if it were him that needed deodorant, it would be no big deal.  Alas, it isn’t him!  It is our 10-year old boy in the Autism Spectrum.  Uh huh, yeah…. exactly!  DIFFICULT to say the least.

Anyway, side-tracked, LOL!  Don’tFretTheSweat.com doesn’t just dole out deodorant info and money-saving coupons, but it has loads of very useful articles to help you talk with your Terrible Tweens (and Teens). After reading “Developing a Tween Hygiene Regime”, I feel more confident about talking to my little boy.  I, personally, see this being a great resource as my three boys go through something I have never had to deal with.   Also, I was sixteen before… well, you know… I didn’t have to deal with puberty at a young age and I understand these changes are much more difficult for kids who are not yet teens or are very young teens.  I have already bookmarked this site to refer back to!

Have you noticed that neat little Beauty Tip of The Day widget at the top of my right sidebar?  We are into another 4 weeks of beauty tips and this time, I have something for my readers!

Pay close attention since this giveaway will be slightly different than my others.

I was sent the above goodies as a thanks for posting the Beauty Tips Widget and so I could try out some of the tips.  I keep Q-Tips in my house at ALL times, I use them for a million things:

1. Makeup smudges. Dip a Q Tip in moisturizer or makeup remover to selectively swipe away stray mascara, liner or shadow.
2. Belly Buttons – Clean out belly buttons (or around an umbilical cord) with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol
3. Fingernail polish off the edges of your cuticles with nail polish remover.
4. Apply highlighter to tricky areas like the inner corners of your eyes or your Cupid’s bow.
5. Create smoky eyes by smudging color into the lashes with a Q-tip.
6. Apply self-tanner inside stretch marks to hide them or other small spots you missed.
7. Sticky Noses – if you have little ones, you have sticky boogers that will not wipe off.  Rub a Q-tip around the inside of the nose and it collects those slimy things!
8. Faucets & Drains – Find it hard to get it clean around faucets and drains?  Q-tips!!
9. Crevices – Dashboard, computers, televisions, etc.  I get into those tiny spots with a trusty Q-tip!
10. Zits! – Every product says to put it directly onto the blemish, but the nozzle is much too big and you get it everywhere.  Use a Q-tip to dab clearing product directly onto pimple!

Now, I don’t have a list for it, because frankly I do not use Vaseline very often.  I use it to get gum out of hair but that is about the extent of my uses.   So, how to win your own box of Unilever Beauty Products…

Mom Says:  I use my straight iron, blow dryer, and curling iron religiously.  If I am not using those items then my hair is in a bun, ponytail, or braid(s).  Consequently, I am really rough on my hair.  I am always looking for an affordable product that will help “revitalize” my hair.  Why does it seem that your hair looks so nice after you get it professionally done but even if you purchase the exact same products, it never looks as healthy again?

I have literally tried a million hair care products from hot oil treatments, to vitamins, to masques.  Some make my hair feel really nice and others make it look really nice.  I like Pantene, it does work but I have found that I have to switch it every month or so to something else or it starts to slack off.  I do not know why, I only know this is true.  Then, it takes the full 14 days to get it back to par.  The Aveeno Nourish+ claims 3 washings and they aren’t lying.  My hair is definitely healthy looking, shinier, and softer.  It isn’t so good it is a miracle, but I do believe it is better.  Now, will it continue to improve or will I need to switch in a few months?  I have no idea, but if I do need to switch, I know what I can switch to. LOL! Besides, the Aveeno Nourish+ is very affordable at about 7 dollars a bottle!
